I was wondering if you have a car with half a tank of gas, will it go faster then the same car with all the same everything accept it has a full tank of gas? The reason I ask is that in the long endurace races if by the time you pit for new tires, if your gas is more than half a tank, and you tell it not to put fuel in, will you save time in the pits as well as make faster lap times do to lighter weight? Any input is welcome. Thanks.

no, more fuel does not make your car faster, nor does less fuel make your car run lighter. but a half tank of gas is alot faster than a tank with no gas.

I fill the gas up as long as they're changing tires. As soon as the tires turn blue, I hit X to stop the gas. It depends on the course how much this is going to benefit you, but it can save time.

I have noticed a difference between running with 1/2 tank as opposed to a full tank. Especially on light cars, the difference can be quite a bit. take the F1 car to the F1 races and do a race where you keep the fuel load full and one where you fill up just enough to get you to your next pit stop. You will be faster with less fuel.

It kinda stinks that gas level doesnt affect overall weight and weight balence in the game. One of the major weight reduction things you can do at the track is to run the tank very close to empty. Gas is like 7lbs per gallon i think.

I just completed the 24 hr race at Nurburgring Nordschleife for the Formula car using the Pescarolo Playstation C-60. Filled up completely and changed all four tires on average every four laps. Sometimes I would/could hold out til I completed 5 laps. The thing that always forced me to pit was not tires, but fuel. After 5 laps I pulled in sucking only fumes, my gas guage down to 2 (out of 80). If I took less fuel, I would have had to make more stops and wasted more time.

Seems to make a difference in the F1 car, run some laps with almost no fuel the fill it up and run again the Bspec driver runs alittle faster on a light load, not every time but mostly it works.
