Full throttle issue with Thrustmaster T300

Hi to all,
i'm using a Thrustmaster T300 to play GT7. I don't know if I have ever had this issue, for sure I noticed now when was racing, and some cars started to overtake me without an apparently reason (sure, the reason was because I was not full throttle).

I tried to full close the game and re-open it, but the "non full throttle issue" still persist.

So i tried to full restart the console and after entered in a race, the problem was solved.. but...

After few laps the throttle is started to go down and down.

I don't think is a problem related to my pedals, because if I full reboot the console, at the beginning of the race the throttle is full.
The problems starts to come out after 1/2 laps..

Someone else have this issue?

Hi m8 have you updated its firmware recently ? if not try that and check the peds are working properly in the windows profiler. Other thing to try is giving the peds a few full presses before the game starts so they calibrate like the wheel before the games loaded. Last thing is to take the little cover off the throttle pot and blow the dust out with a can of air I've had to do this a few times over the years.
But so far my games been running fine with my t300 not sure what else to try
 
Interesting that you have this. I use the LCM pedals with the T300 so it might be a little different. I was looking at my iracing telemetry last night and apparently I was only at 75% throttle power and this was with my pedals hooked up through my wheel. When I put my pedals directly into the calibrator they were able to read a raw 100%. I set a dead zone and did the calibration so hopefully when I go in tonight I will be able to get full throttle. I have everything up to date.
 
I updated the firmware today and connecting the wheel via USB directly to the PC, the gas pedal is fine, I can full throttle there.

What is very strange is that when I start GT7, the throttle works fine. After some time (1, or 2 laps) the throttle go "down" up to 85%.
The funny fact is that if I reboot the console again, the throttle go at 100% and after some minutes go down again as I show in the picture.

This make me crazy.... tomorrow I'll try to clean the pedal, but it's seems a software problem.. I don't know..

In GT Sport the game continuously re-calibrated the pedals, so if your potentiometers are scratchy or dirty the game might see spurious inputs which could "confuse" it (Edit: if it still works the same way in GT7, of course.)

This happened to me randomly once when i accidentally knocked out the power cable mid race lol. I unplugged it again restarted my console and plugged it back it which seemed to fix the issue haven't had it again since. I even went to the LCM pedal calibrator to make sure it wasnt somehow broken.

cool m8 last thing then give it a clean it can't do any harm i guess if it is a calibration issue like skinny said it might help. I think he is right about it resetting each race i tried to use the button press combo to lower the rotation for the drift events and you have to do it every time you go on track most games you only do it once so it must be resetting

Thanks a lot for your support. I opened the pedals and used a contact cleaner directly on the potentiometers and not it's seems better. Done 3 races without any problems! But i think this is a signal that my old T300 is giving to me... move to Fanatec DD Pro :D
 
Yes. My t300 died, or, sometimes it works, sometimes it don't. I bought the a used thrustmaster t248, and I got the same problem that you experienced. Restarter the game, and than it works. I have now sold the t248 cause it was not very good. T 300 much smoother.

It's fine. But I think the t300 is much smoother going from left to right and visa versa. Also, my feedback settings are 1 and 1 cause I like it to be easy to steer. When I had this setting on t248, it was much stronger than my t300.

Es ist gut. Aber ich denke, die t300 ist viel glatter, von links nach rechts und Visum versa. Auch meine Rückmeldung-Einstellungen sind 1 und 1, weil ich es mag, einfach zu lenken. Als ich diese Einstellung auf t248 hatte, war es viel stärker als meine t300.

Vielleicht haben Sie Recht, 160; ich versuche die T300 nicht. Bevor ich mit meinem T150 spielte und ein billiges Upgrade zum T248.Mein nächster Schritt ist, eine PS5 zu bekommen, bevor ich ein besseres Rad kaufe. ( DD Pro mit LC und 8NM Upgrade wird mein nächster )

Maybe you're right, 160; I'm not trying the T300. Before playing with my T150 and a cheap upgrade to the T248. My next step is to get a PS5 before I buy a better wheel. (DD Pro with LC and 8NM upgrade will be my next one)

Small sad update :( I used the wheel for the entire morning without any kind of problems, now i connected again and I have the same issue. Throttle at 85%.

But now it's more, the break too stop at 85% O_o

I've totally opened the pedals base and clean it up. After re-connected go at 100%. If i disconnect it, sometimes go at 85% and sometimes totally wont work.

What is very very strange is that if I reboot the console, the pedals start to work again. But not any times, sometimes work at 100%, sometimes at 85% (gas and break).

At this point, I really don't know if could be a hardware problem. Maybe yes, maybe no....
 
have you tried connecting them to a different game to see if it might be on GT7's end?

My t300 is on its legs as well and I made the big splurge on a fanatec system just waiting til July for it to come.
 
I haven't other game installed by now, i should try with some F1 game.

However, i performed some tests with the gas pedal outside the pedals system and when i press it, the game recognize at full throttle.

After that, I've mounted it again in the pedal system and the game recognize it at 85% (or 90%, I cant estimate correctly because on the game is just a bar).
I performed this test for 20 times. Every time with the same result (without restarting the game):

  • Unmounted -> the pedal go well, at 100%
  • Mounted -> the pedal go at 85%

What I noticed is when the pedal is mounted on the pedals station, it perform a little rotation (5° or so).

So, if GT7 perform a kind of auto-calibration, when the pedal is mounted on the station start at 5° already rotated.

In this way the ZERO point for GT7 is 5° and not 0°.

Going at full throttle result is not 100%, but less - because 5° of physical degree are lost at the beginning.

I played GT7 for many hours in this days, and apparently I never had problems. So, I know is very very strange but I cannot exclude that is a problem related to 1.0.9 patch released days ago.

Or your pedals are simply defective... and something in these pedals no longer works as it should.

I also think that mounting a pedal shouldn't cause it to bend or anything like that. I suspect a condition that is not OK or wrong screws.

I don't want to be too much optimistic but.. I found this guide and it describe exactly my problem!

For some reason, it's look like my pedal was misconfigured. Following the guide the pedals started perfectly!

The plot thickens lol now i think about it i had to do something on the wheel when i mounted my t3pa peds upside down but it was so long ago i forgot all about it.

I have the same problem. I can do 2 laps normal full throttle and then only around 85%. I tried the wheel on different racing games and works fine in all of them. I am sure is a GT7 issue after the last update. I don’t know what do anymore

Hi Pena_Poker and mistre83,

Finally I found people whom had the same prob I have with my GT300 and T3PA too; noticed my throttle on GT7 falls to less than 100% although physically the pedal cannot be depressed anymore. I reset it by plugging out the RJ12 from the wheel and plug it back before a race starts, it does go back to 100% but falls back to abt 85-90% throttle after a lap or so in the middle of a race. I swapped the clutch w throttle pedal thinking it’s the potentiometer issue but problem persist after the swap which leads me to think it’s not so much a hardware issue. I’m frustrated and it’s spoiling the gt7 game for me!

Is your steering wheel really up to date? Are all settings correct?

There are only 2 possibilities.. Pedals are defective or the software on the Wheelbase is incorrect, configured incorrectly. Because very many players do not have such problems, it is therefore unlikely that it is a problem of the game itself, at most an unfortunate combination.
 
Hi Xmax,

Yes, my wheel is updated to the latest V34 firmware, made sure it wasn’t in TLCM mode and I even swapped the clutch/throttle pedals thinking it’s a wonky potentiometer; think I tried everything that I can. Maybe the last thing I can perhaps do is to replace the whole TM set :(
