To see you doing something like that is completely surreal for someone who lives where I do, Ireland. Barely anyone has a gun here, apart from a few shot guns. Not even our own Guards (police) have weapons. And to here that it is that easy to get a gun there it makes me wonder how your gun related violence is so 'low'?

Its simple, we love " to have the right to bear arms" though that does have it different meanings.

When you know anyone could be packing heat you are not so eager to get your own out and point it around the place.

Only thing I never shot here in Australia was automatic weapons, so when I was in Las Vegas I went to a range and fired a M16 assault rifle and M246 machine gun in full auto, you wont have any trouble finding a range to shoot at over there in most states. I am suprised they dont have ranges you can go to for handguns and rifles in the UK?

I know there are shotgun ranges in the UK, but I really had assault rifles in mind (just because they are cool :p)

I know that when I went to Las Vegas, we saw a range advertising and MP5, me and my Dad thought it would great fun to go and try. but alas we didn't have time.

An M16 would be great as would the m4 carbine version, maybe a sub-machine gun like the MP5 too. Glad to here Jonny Foreigner can turn up and have a fire. 👍

Nope, pay put on the earmuffs walk into the range they will give you a quick safety intro to handling the gun (most have never shot anything before in their life, as most are overseas tourists) and go for it.

And yeah they had a lot of Sub machine guns their too but like you I didn't have a lot of time and paying for the ammo is not real cheap when you fire them so quick either. :D

Ah wow you have a Ruger Super Redhawk, I had one in .44 stainless, after all my handguns I owned that was always my favorite. Is that the 7.5 or 9.5 inch barrel the picture on the angle I can't really tell for sure, mine was the 9.5 incher.

They are a seriously strong (and heavy :D) and reliable revolver, I loaded the hotest .44 loads possible in that (made my own ammo) constantly and it loved it, once I got it so hot you could only touch the grip. I found it very accurate too even with the extra high power loads, with open sites I was hitting shotgun shells at 50 meters sometimes (from a rest), the problem was the the shell is to small behind the open site you can see it and are only guessing. :)

Only thing I didn't like was after a lot of high power loads the grip felt a little small and the gun front heavy and the edge of the grip started digging into my hand, I ended up getting a after market Hagemeyer grip, which looks awesome and fixed the problem.

After the Super Redhawk (still had plenty of semiautos) I got a Dan Wesson in .357 Maximum (longer more powerful version of .357 magnum) which had the removal interchangable barrel, I was never happy with it and it was not all that reliable.


I can post some pics of some of the guns if anyone is interested.

Awesome! Yeah, it's a great gun. 7.5" barrel. I haven't got a scope for it, but it has SS Scope rings and mounts all ready to go if I wanted to add one. :D

And yes, pics please. :)

We were shooting some light 230 grain loads. They just kind of pop off. Had a few 300 grain loads that would shoot fire out the end of the barrel. They had a lot more kick and that's when the grip started to dig into my had. *ouch*

:D Love looking at all that steel. The 9.5" barrel has got to help somewhat with the kick on the hotter loads.

Nice pair you have there.
 
Yeah, I always wondered my much difference in recoil between the 7.5 and 9.5, the extra forward weight of the 9.5 should help a bit.


I do recommend that grip though if the stocky is digging in on the big loads (even the edge of the wood on the stocky pinched me a little sometimes) it is extremely comfortable. Though the shock of the big loads still hurts after consecutive, can't make that go away :lol:.

I thought about getting setup, but I haven't gone there yet. I have a buddy that reloads all the time. I have boxes of empty brass that needs reloaded..... I don't know..... If I ever get back into it, I'll have plenty of brass to work with.
 
Lee and Dillon both make nice progressive reloaders that are not terribly expensive, and are pretty easy to use.

Dillon make awesome presses; better than Lee. But, if you single stage it, Lee makes some really awesome hand tools, like their 'Auto Prime.' That thing is fantastic! They make other great stuff, too.

Redding dies are my favorite, if you ever get into reloading, seek those out first. I like them a lot more than Lee, RCBS and Hornady dies. In fact, I think Redding makes one of the best single stage presses, if I'm not mistaken.

I used to reload all my ammo, the price difference was too great not to.

Bottom of the mag blew out (good thing they are plastic) and cut my face and arm up a little, good thing I wear protective glasses when shooting.

The gun itself was fine, the shell got jammed and a little bit of force and the slide sperated from the barrel and it came out, but the gun itself was absolutely fine all the excess energy came out the mag.

That could have turned out much messier than it did. I'd say you got off pretty easy....

I loaded a squib load once, and only once. Did no harm, obviously, but I had no tool to ram the bullet back out, since it didn't even past through the forcing cone. Couldn't use my Anaconda for the rest of the day, but the ammo didn't go to waste since I had my 1894 Marlin with me. :)

One thing I like about .44 mag; you can never 'double charge' a round by mistake 'cause the powder would spill all over the place.

I know, that was handy with the .44 , though I never made the mistake again.

My smarter half won't let me keep guns around the house.
If I did...It would pretty much be all Ruger. Though I admit to a weakness for 1911 style autos.
I don't think anyone makes a better .357/.38 for the money and I'd very much like a Montado SAA, an SP-101 and a GP-100.
And I'd like to think that I'd re-load. (Especially with a box of 50 rounds going for $20 on sale)

I'm lucky enough to have a Cabela's less than 20 min away. I think of this as I just found a sale-paper on my wife's desk.
