Anyone tried the Nixim brake pedal mod for the G25?

Thoughts/feedback?

Yep bought one and fitted it. Tried it last night and the pedal is way to stiff to push down. You need something really solid to mount the pedals onto. The WheelStandPro isn't upto the job .

Thanks Donk... you seem to be my guru for G25/Wheelstand pro advice :)

Shame, as I was looking for something to make partial/trail braking easier - In the IFTC event I'm really struggling to get the braking right in to the final 3 tunrs at Fuji.

If you won't get mod, best way to play on G25 is to take shoes off... and lower Brake bias if you have ABS off. It helps me a lot :)

I have no problems per se with the G25, just want a bit more resistance on the brake pedal so it's easier to make/judge very small applicatons.

Hey guys, I have performed a brake pedal mod on the G25 and can highly recommend it. I didn't use the Nixim block, instead just cut a piece of medium density foam from an old automotive buffing disc I had and inserted that in the spring cylinder. The 2 main tricks are:
1) make the length of your piece shorter than the length of the cylinder, this gives the "dead zone" feel to it. &
2) the amount & density of foam (ie the cross section x length) effects the pedal pressure. If you use too much or too dense a foam your pedal will get really stiff and it's motion may end before 100% pedal is reached. If you find this happens take more material off the cross section and the stiffness will reduce.

I highly recomend this mod, if done right it makes the pedal feel so much more realistic and the increased resistance near the pedal end means you can control the brake modulation easier.
I also recomend spacing the brake pedal up about 10-15mm, which really helps heel-toe (if you're a user of the clutch!)

Elitepro... tha's exactly what I was looking to do - make the brake pedal pressure more progressive rather than linear.

Can you give me an idea of how 'compressable' the foam you used is... give me an idea of what sort of density to look for.

Cheers,
Chris

Scotty, tough one to describe.
What I used was denser than a houshold spong but softer than an eraser. The piece I ended up with was about 15mmx15mm in cross section and about 30-40mm long. I took it from one of my foam buffing pads used on a high speed buffer for poishing cars. But if you went to Clark Rubber or something similar I'm sure you could get a piece of medium density foam and do the same. Just tell them you want to buy lots but aren't sure how dense you want the foam and ask if you can take a small piece to check. I'm sure the sample piece they give you will be more than you need. And free!!!!
