question for those with the g25 and that are using the clutch.

how do you shift?

i normally just keep my foot full throttle n tap the clutch to change gear.

H-Shift is a nice feature, but it's pretty much obsolete.
I agree with you on the basis of the future of cars. However, a huge part of Gran Turismo is about cars from the past, and for those, I'm happy to see a proper manual gearbox.

I see no big point in H-shifting because all modern sport cars are moving towards sequential shift, and every day there is less sport-cars with H-shift. Sequential is the now and the future. From Golf GTi, to BMW M3, Aston Martin DB9, Porsche 911 GT3, all the way up to Murcielago, Enzo, Veyron, you name it, whatever.

With race-cars sequential is reality for past, what, 10 years?

thats like saying "I see no real point in the internal combustion engine as in the future we will all be driving electric cars"! We all know no one will ever take a Prius over a Diablo V12.... Bro, real men drive manual! Thats why i have a left leg and a left arm!

Sequential Transmission = Masterbation.
Manual Transmission = Making love with the women you love.

At the end, they both achieve the same thing, but it is the process that really counts.

In top level (FIA GT, ALMS, LMS, Super GT etc.) race cars H-pattern manual gearbox is really pretty much obsolete, except the few odd privately build cars that might once in a while show up in the FIA GT races. Porsches were the last factory backed cars to have H-pattern and even that was already couple of years ago. Altough semiauto sequentials are pretty rare, I think it's not even allowed in FIA's GT1/GT2 regulations.

To a post further above, yes if you don't you the clutch on the shift (when clutch is enabled) it will drop you in neutral, and you'll be revving the daylights out of the engine just like real life when you try a quick shift but miss the gear. :P

I change up properly (lift off throttle) but If I am in a tight race I flat shift :)

and I alway heal-toe on the downshift.

i recently purchased ps3 off of ebay, my last one was stolen. i bought gt4 again (stolen), and plugged in my g25. with my old ps3, i had no issues at all. for some reason though, now whenever i turn the wheel off center, the screen skips or blacks out for a few frames or gets grainy. i noticed it also does with with nascar 08 for ps2 when played on my ps3. do you guys thinks its just a problem with the playstation, because the problem does not occur on any of my ps3 racing games (nascar 09, GT5P). feedback please if anyone still visits these gt4 threads. thanks

sorry this showed up in Gt5 board, but i DID search this verbatum"gran turismo 4 with g25 on ps3", and they sent me here so i just replied, please dont bash me.

Can you use the two plates on the backside of the wheel as gear shift and if you can do you need to use the clutch?
And how does it feel in academy, different from GT5P?
