I am kind of disappointed about the shifter on the G25.
I drive a Manual Civic Si every day and been to the track with it, but i can't do a quick shift on the g25 :indiff: I missed gear a lot on the G25 but not in the real car lol The shifter on the G25 just doesn't feel right

That is to be expected. On the G25 the shifter uses very weak springs to provide weak resistance in between shifts. The G27 shifter feels a little bit better but the shifters aren't interchangeable between the two wheels. However, there is a modification you can do to your G25 shifter that makes it feel much better. Type in "chillicoke g25 shifter mod" into YouTube and it should come up.

I agree 100% .. It's terrible, It gives you a "Mis-shift' If you don't let off the gas fully, (10% down at max) They need to fix it.. Game Breaker

I miss many many shifts on the G27 as well.. :U
It might be because the clutch in GT5 is strange..

These two reasons may also explain why you have been missing so many shifts as well.

one more thing is in the game you can't really feel the engagement point which is very important in real driving

There's no wheel out there than can simulate that.

Regarding the quick-shifting thing, you can't change gear properly without letting go of the accelerator and then pressing the clutch 100%. Otherwise, the game will throw you into neutral. As others have said, this is a game breaker.

I don't have any trouble upshifting, but miss downshifts nearly 50% of the time. Note that I haven't driven a manual in real life yet.

I agree with you there. I might have to look into the chillicoke mod also because it's very flimsy haha.

Another thing I noticed is that on the shifter itself, it shows 7 speeds, but the shifter only has 6? anyone here have an answer to this?

Pushing down in 6th gear is reverse, which is shown as 7.

ohh ok. So you have to PUSH the actual shifter down and then shift it to the 7th gear, which is reverse?

Yes. It's based on a push-down reverse gearbox you can find on some cars.

i have a stick jeep cherokee and my g27 shifts slower than my truck, it sucks. i think not driving stick in real life may make the g27 feel ok because its far from real feeling.

I want a G27, but from the way it sounds on here, the DFGT is the optimum wheel for racing on GT5.
I have a g27 and have used a DFGT and I certainly think the 27 is way better.
I have no trouble at all upshifting or downshifting. Of course its never going to feel like a real car but once you get used to it, its really quite nice.

I totally agree with you lol i can shift 10 times faster in my civic si lol

In real life much of the engagement point is felt through the reaction of the car not the feel in the pedal.

I've always thought the clutch is like an on/off button kind of thing in GT5.. I wanna grind my gears! I want the car to shake about and hop and do the seesaw!

The G27 is still a better wheel and the pedals are much better even if you don't use the shifter. Besides, it's possible to shift without missing at all, it's just a matter of practice/experience.

I almost never use the H shifter because of this. Never had this problem with the Live for Speed game. So it depends on the settings in GT5. Mostly paddle shifter sometimes i use the sequential shifter.

chilicoke's mod makes the gate shifter feel about 300% better (which, really isn't saying much, lol! But it's worth the effort. When doing the mod, WATCH THAT SPRING! Yikes!)

Also I believe the DFGT has a sequential 'sport' shifter next to the wheel. Am I wrong? Because with the G27 and G25 you can just turn a switch and your gated shifter becomes a sequential sport shifter.

Tap it back to upshift, tap it forward to downshift. I use this feature just as much as I use the gated mode. It's a blast.

Glad I'm not the only one with this problem. I use the H-shifter when I do seasonals and A-spec. League/Lobby racing, I can't afford the mistakes. So I go back to the paddle shifters.
