The G27 can finally be had for a great price once again.

All this talk about the Fanatec GT2 and Thrustmaster, but when it comes to best bang for your buck, the G27 still has a big advantage. Here's the link to the thread I just made at slickdeals with the instructions to get the $191 price.

http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?sduid=158341&t=2559991

Shipping is free, with tax my total came out to $204, and they're in stock!

Although I want a GT2 I ended up ordering and taking advantage of this really good price. You can't beat it! Thanks for the heads up! Now I hope they ship it soon. :)

Ugh killing me I was gonna get the carrera setup, but with this price I've gone back to being on the fence.....grrr hopefully the deal will last till thurs when I got the cash and can make up my mind!!!

You can get overnight or 2nd day shipping but Logitech still has a 3 day processing delay. So I guess if you ordered and wanted overnight shipping on a Monday then the item should ship o Thursday and you'll receive it the earliest on Friday. Oh yeah, Overnight shipping costs I believe more than $30 USD. :irked:

Sorry, the deal died the night of the day I posted it. It blew up on the slickdeals forum and the 20% off codes from the survey were all gone. I was surprised no one really seemed interested here, little to late now.

You can still get it with the 20% off for registering a product. That brings the price down to $240.

I was able to get it down to 239 with the first coupon, but the survey had died by the time I tried it (about 12Pm Pacific.)
With California tax it came out to 260.
I'm glad I messed up my billing address when I first ordered it a few weeks ago for 290 and the order was canceled.

Me too, blew it - but seems like a lot that ordered at the $191 price are getting shafted and are not gonna get theirs.

$239 w free shipping seems pretty solid.

How would folks compare this at $240 to a Fanatec GT3 with CSPs (total would be around $400 without a shifter) and I've read about the delays and other issues about Fanatec.

Just wondering how they compare.

From what I've read/heard you're better off just going with the Logitech. Apparently Fanatec customer service isn't that great, there are compatibility issues, the force feedback is a little weak, and it seems you're paying more for the Porsche logo than anything. Don't get me wrong, they seem to be wheels of uncanny quality, it just seems like you're better off saving some money buying something comparable like a G27.

Both of those statements are wrong. The turbo s wheel has much stronger force feedback then the logitech wheels, and the price isn't really that bad considering the quality and multi platform support. With firmware upgrades, and additional shifters and hand brakes coming out the fanatec wheels just keep getting better, and better, while the logitech wheel will always be the same as the day you bought it.

In all honesty, if I haven't tried something out, I would not comment on the strength of the force feedback or quality of the product. By you saying that the FF of the fanatec wheels are a little week, you obviously don't own one, and haven't used one with the FF turned up very high. I would almost guarantee, that no fanatec users play GT5 with the FF turned to 10 in game and 100 on the wheel. It would have your arms tired in about 5 minutes.

Well obviously I'm going by what I see in reviews, whether written or on YouTube. I'm in the market for another wheel, so it's not like I'm just trying to bash the wheel... what's good force feedback for you may not be for another unless you own every wheel and can compare them in real-time... anyways, to prisch, just look for some reviews on YouTube on the wheel and see what they say... I don't want to hijack this thread any further... sorry...

Thanks for the product registration tip!

Ordered the G27 today directly from Logitech. Total came out to $256.49 with tax/ free ground shipping and could be at the house sometime between next Wed and the following Monday. Also had previously ordered an Obutto from MainPerformancePC on the 9th (pre-order for thie incoming shipment on the 10th) and that is set for delivery this Monday. :)

Literally have only played GT5 a few times to try it out until the entire setup gets to the house so I can have a complete experience. I'm OVERLY excited for my 'winter survival kit', as we still have 3-4 months before us northerners can break out our bikes from thier winter slumber to ride/ track days.

FWIW, I decided to go G27 due to all the negative comments across multiple forums regarding Fanatech customer service no matter what the problem (initial order inquery, shipment status, warranty info, etc).

You won't be unhappy. While I'm sure the Fanatec gear is worth the hassle and the T500 is worth the $$, the G27 is the best value out there for a complete no hassle setup.

I was lucky enough to get it for $191 and I'm surprised that it is arriving later today. I was also planning on getting the GT2 but with all these shipping problems and with the great price of the GT2 I just decided to go with the G27.

While I'm not going to argue the fact that the G27 at $190 isn't an awesome deal, it certainly is! You have many incorrect facts in your post.

As far as compatibility the GT2 is the only wheel that works on PC, PS3 and 360. It is also fully supported by GT5 all buttons work and are mappable. The Force Feedback is stronger than the G25 and G27 I've tried all of them, and Fanatec has stated that the Porsche branding only added a very small percentage to the wheel. Now as far as ship times and other issues there are varying experiences. Mine have been great.

You know, I wanted to also get a GT2 but after doing research here, other forums and even on twitter I just decided to hold off because of their stock issues and customer service complaints. I had to call Logitech 2 times to cancel two G27 orders due to price and they were prompt and friendly. So even if Logitech is a bigger company they seemed more eager and honest about their product and services.

I really hope Fanatec get their business together.

Sorry to go a little off topic. Please proceed... xD

As an FYI - I ordered the carrera setup thebother day. Order was shipped the same day...and I emailed them and got a response same day. I feel all these complaints stem from impatient people.... They have been spot on for me....

I ordered the G27 today for $208 shipped with both coupons...However, over on the slickdeals forum, quite a few people have gotten their orders cancelled...And, two people have said they called Logitech, and Logitech said they were out of stock, yet they still had their credit cards charged...Not sure what's going on, but I decided to at least try to get one for the price

I just received my G27 today which I got for 191.99 from this deal. Very impressed so far. Can't wait to get my rig built so I can put it to use.

It seems some who had both good and bad service so no it's not just those who impatient. It seem their service is hit and miss. This could be due to their own success as a smaller company.

********
By the way if you charged something on your credit card and the order gets canceled often it take a few business days before the charges are cleared.

I just set up my G27 but have yet to use it. Looks awesome compared to my DFGT.

The area around the buttons on the shifter has little scuffs and scratches all over it. I'm not sure that it bothers me enough to return it, though. Let's see how it works first.

Dude, you just need to remove the protective plastic film from around the shifter buttons. It'll be perfect underneath there.

Please, moderator, revoke my membership here at GTplanet (tongue in cheek of course).

Funny, because the first thing I thought was maybe it was a film on top. I tried peeling it off once to no avail, so I just left it and thought it was scratched.
