I recently got a G27 and i love it, very immersive and im having a blast driving

One thing is pissing me off though - the constant force feeback hits i get while just driving down a straight... if im not 100% perfectly straight (basically hands off the wheel) it starts to pop and correct itself when im not even moving the car much at all...

Ive tried lowering the forcefeedback to 1 and a few other things buts its very annoying

Any way to stop it from doing this?

I take it you never try the wheel on a dirt circuit. The wheel will rip your arms off. the default FFB strength is far from anything close to real, dial it down to 2 may be 3.

Does the game have an environmental effects option? Like in F1 2010 and DiRT 2?
If it does, then turn that down.

Just have to grip the wheel tight and fight it.

I would imagine flying at 180 buffets your car pretty hard anyway..

Yeah, I can't let go of the wheel at any time or else the FF bucks it one way, then the opposite, then again in the opposite, and just fishtails until it slides out.

Ever tried 300km/h in a real car with no hands? I would think the wheels would be turning themselves in different directions with every bump with noone controlling them as well.

Think outside the box people :dopey:.

I believe one of the reason PD includes some oscillating movement in the FFB even on the straight is to simulate the road surface and movement. A force feedback steering wheel doesn't and shouldn't necessarily behave exactly like its real life counterpart. Some of the effect are there because unlike in real cars you don't get sensation from the cars and gravity in games/sims.

If I were you, I'd keep the FFB quite high (my G25 is set to max) and hold the steering wheel like race drivers would normally do- constant, somewhat forceful but not grippy. The best thing about high FFB is that not only the steering becomes more of an effort but you'll also feel all the great effects in GT5- you can actually feel the weight transfer while going up or down elevations not to mention lateral weight shifts.

your problem is world wide, just so you know its a software related issue from developers all we need is to start a forum about how badly we want gt5 to get a couple extra settings for our wheels most importantly dead zone...nfs shift had the best in game wheel tuning set up i've ever seen in a game they should at least copy some of its most important features like additionnal fine tunning of FF, deadzone, wheel degrees 900-0 increments of 10....

Here's Schumacher going around Indy. Doesn't look too bad, but diffinently some buffetting going on even on straights.

I'm with you man, damn its such a pain but my god does it force you to really focus and be in tune with the bumps and elevation changes on the track. It's exhilarating when you can get it right but can be very frustrating. I try controlling drifts, it's very difficult..when I lose it, it just goes..How do you drifters do it? what are your settings?

I got FFB at 1 and its WAY too strong. If I have ASM of TC on its double it.. I hate that you cant turn it off..

What annoys me about when I bought a DFGT was that when you get airborne there is no resistance at all in the wheel, is it the same on the g27?

If I'm understanding you correctly it should be that way. When your tires have no contact with the surface there is no resistance (or FFB).

You guys do realize that the FFB strength selector has no affect on the G27. Put it on 1 or 10 and it feels exactly the same. This is one of my biggest gripes with the G27 not being officially supported. The buttons not working is secondary.

Likewise, I find the FFB as set by default to be very weak, just as it was in Prologue. In fact, FFB set all the way to 10 in Prologue (when I still had my G25) was still like a wet noodle most of the time.

I understand that it should be greatly reduced, but not totally gone IMO. It's probably just me being picky!

So people bought a force feedback wheel, and are now complaining that it has force feedback?? Man, people on this board will complain about anything and everything!!

How do you bring up the settings for the DFGT? I can't find adjustments anywhere.

Is it possible to turn the force feedback off? I know you can't turn it of thru in-game options but i've seen some people claim they play GT5 with a G27 and with force feedback off. Is this at all possible?

You ever charged at a humpback bridge and got some air as you creast, in rale life? (in your car of course, not running like a maniac on all 4's ;)).

You would notice your steering does go quite light and your car will also rev up as the driving wheels face no resistance for a split second.

Well, I have been 175-180 (was a little busy to look down to get the exact number haha) in my modified Bimmer in real life and I can certainly tell you my car did not wander at all and was pretty smooth. Nothing at all like the GT version.

I get this effect on some cars.

I have a DFGT. Sim model. Force feedback full. Power steering on.

Yeah just fire up the wheel let it calibrate, then unplug it. I only use this on ovals, when grinding.

What kind of road surface where you on?

If it was a narrow crowned road you would probably have been fighting the wheel a bit more than if you where on a billard table smooth 4 lane motorway.

I have this issue too when using my PWTS. Sometimes it's bad, sometimes I can even notice it. It's not as bad as it was in prolog though.

I used to think that it was an effect to make the car feel as though you're traveling at a high rate of speed (although if your cars wheel oscilates wildly back and forth like that I highly recommend you having it serviced) until I noticed that it would do it even with my car sitting still on the starting grid.

Just another silly thing that PD took 5 years to get "right".

I like this effect. I continue to be amazed how much FFB tells you about surface, orientation, balance, grip; this is just part of it.

The effect is particularly strong on the Mulsanne straight, exactly because that is a bumpy road.

That said, I find the effect quite weak, at least compared to and old Driving Force something I had back in GT4, it really took pains to run Mulsanne in a straight line. Now in GT5 it is just noticeable so that you feel the road, but it no longer rips the car out of your hands.

It was a 2 lane road out by Las Vegas- Desert Wasteland ! I went there with a couple friends with fast cars also. There is about a 6 or so mile stretch of desert blacktop that is arrow straight and Zero traffic. We were there messing around for probably 3 hours drag racing and high speed runs and this, as well as the couple other times I've been there, never saw a single person.
Now that you mention it, I don't really remember it being crowned with a high spot towards the center. I've been on a few track days and have seen 140 a lot and it was also really in control at that speed...except this blinding fear of death... :)
sorry to jack the thread..

I have in an 84 Porsche 944, all 4 wheels off the ground, and you are right, you don't feel anything. But boy is the landing hard :D

Before a race, check if your active steering is ON!

If it does, you found your problem.

Turn it Off.

I have a g27. But i don't seem to have the problem you're having. Very strange as they should act exactly the same. My settings are set to full for the record.
