Hello, I may have mentioned this at the bottom of my only other post. If I were to tweak and mod my G27 what would be the least, the very least I should do if I don't do anything else?

I saw this brake/clutch mod http://www.nixim.com/index.php?pageid=brakemod and was wondering if I should do this. At the risk of sounding stupid, I imagine it will come with instructions explaining which way up the springs go, or if it makes a difference if you get it upside down. Also should I leave the gas/accelerator alone or put one of the other springs from the brake/clutch in its place?

On a separate note, I've noticed a video to make a G25 gear lever a little firmer, is there a similar mod for the G27? I'd like a bit more weight to make it a little meatier for my manual shifting.

I've done both mods and I think both are easy, cheap and good. The heavier shifter mod worked nicely, and gave the shifter a much better feel. The Nixim mod is also very good, but it doesn't come with any instructions, and it doesn't matter the way you put the springs. And it's better to leave the accelerator alone, because the clutch spring is too heavy for the accelerator.

Hmm, I find the original accelerator spring far too light. I prefer to use the clutch spring for the accelerator and the brake spring for the clutch. I'm currently using a Perfect Pedal for the brakes. I don't have the new Nixim mod though but I did start with the original Nixim mod. Wouldn't mind trying the new Nixim clutch spring on its own. Wonder if they'd sell it on its own.

Done the shifter mod last night, works a treat. Just a bitch to put back together with the extra spring tension. I'd recommend putting some tape over the holes too to get rid of that annoying 'Click'.

Next up, pedal mod. No doubt will be using the Nixim springs and the clutch pedal spring on the accelerator pedal.

Thanks guys, made up my mind I'll be doing both, but I'm gonna wait on the pedals till I can find a more permanent set up/rig.

Now, on to the shifter...... *rubs hands together* ...... damn! it's time for work.:grumpy:

Remember to make sure on reassembly the sensor on the right of the shifter assembly (It spins around) is pointed with the point downwards (The wiring coming out of the top) into the groove on the casing.

Otherwise you'd find you won't be able to select anything but 1st, 3rd, 5th.

This picture shows the sensor I mean (Arrow pointing at it)

Thanks for the info Butonz, I'm gonna be cheeky and ask for a bit more help.

The only video I've seen for the stick mod, was from, I imagine it's a person tagged chillcoke(no disrespect intended). Excellent video, sadly it had music playing over it, would've loved a talk through. Anyway, perhaps a link to a site to help or another vid?

Also where to get the bits I need? I really should have done a bit more research before posting here, sorry. I tend to value and find more credible the opinions here than a random google search. Thanks.

Here's the mod page on his website http://www.chilicoke.com/mods/shifterresistance.htm. Below the video there is some some step by step instructions with close up pictures of each step.

Those parts he used aren't anything in particualr, just things laying about. For the spacer for the shift pressure mod I just took an unused rivet, cut the fat end to the length specified by chili and then smoothed it out a bit on the grinding wheel. I had a bit more trouble with the push down reverse, the o-ring I planned to use fit around the shaft just fine but then was just a little bit too fat to get the shaft back into the mechanism. I decided to skip that bit and put it all back together and I'm not totally convinced I need it but at some point I guess I may find a better o-ring and try it again.

Thanks Brock, very kind of you. Didn't occur to me he'd have a website.

Seems to me different people are using different parts for the mod, not quite sure what a rivet is, and is that a rubber ring? I may have to take it apart and run around looking for bits that may fit :)

This is a rivet, your local hardware store will have them.

Or you could just use a screw of the right diameter and then cut it to length, which is what I had planned to do before I found some perfectly sized rivets in a bag of spare hardware in my shop.

And yes, just a rubber ring, often used to seal gas or liquid plumbing connections. Again, your local hardware store will probably have some o-rings just pay attention to the dimensions.

Thanks again Brock. Thanks for the image, I've downloaded it and saved it in my phone. Thanks for the prompt and thorough reply.
