I seem to have more of that horrid clacking sound: gears in the wheel grinding or fighting against each other since the spec 2 update.

I regularly play online on the Nordschliefe in my Audi 4.2 and i've noticed that after the update the 'clackage' is more than it used to be on the same settings.

I did a couple of hours online earlier, had some very nice races but I did notice more clacking than normal.

I'm a bit worried about this as i'm on my 2nd G27 (1st replaced by Logitech) after the first died from excess clacking i'm convinced by the rally tracks.

Anyone else felt more 'clackage' ?

Agreed, I really noticed no clacking on the tarmac courses prior to 2.0. Now, depending on the car, there is definately some. Not in a wheel shattering rally track kind of way, but definately there.

I was really looking forward to rallying when I heard the G27 would be officially supported, as I assumed this issue would be addressed. I've been too scared to do much up till now, the way the G27 sounds like it is going to fly apart on those courses. However I guess official support only goes so far.

!!Don't do any rally driving, it will tear the gears apart. That's what killed my old wheel.

Unless you play with no Force feedback
Or could simply just adjust the Force Feedback at the in-game settings.

Dam. Just got my g27, and I was under the assumption that it was indestructible. You people are scaring me!!!

Same here I finally made the decision to buy a wheel. Now this is also freaking me out! Does the t500rs have the same issue?

I have noticed more noise. And after a few hours when i shut down and the wheel spins by itself, there might be a bit of a rough noise when spinning right only. Not left. I noticed it after the rally drift trial.

My Logitech mouse randomly turns off for about 10 seconds every now and then. My Logitech G27 wheel will miss second gear in the H pattern shifter. Logitech customer service responses in their forums consist of "Plug it into something else because it's certainly not the fault of our product. Problem solved."

I'm going to stop buying Logitech...

It's not indestructible. The clacking is the two FFB motors working against each other. If it happens occasionally, it's okay (not a problem), but on some cars (like the X2010), it just keeps on going. And that can most definitely kill your wheel.

BTW, what have you set the FFB to (1-10)?

My wheel only does this with the X2010 and the F10

so i stay away from them

Logitech products are amazing. Best peripheral company i've ever seen.. the problem here is software... PD's fault

The "clacking" is quite normal with gear driven FFB wheel. I've had my G25 for almost 4 years- it's been "clacking" in GT5P (the FFB set to 10) and even in PC sims like GTR2 and rFactor. If you want less clack you might want to look into belt driven wheels like the T500RS or Fanatec (although those wheels chatter as well due to toothed belt).

It's not a simple blame game. But as I've pointed, regardless of which sims I've played, there are instances where the wheel will clack. As G25 owner, I do agree that Logitech makes good product but they're far from amazing. Amazing is Frex Simwheel- a properly engineered piece of workmanship. Logitech along with Thrustmaster and Fanatec are mostly mass produced middle of the road FFB wheels.

Don't speak unless you're sure that what you're saying is 100% correct.

I have a GT3 RS which is belt driven and I can say that the wheel is totally silent, it's not even louder than PS3.

I really haven't changed the ffb. I find its good the way it is, but if there is a chance of those rally tracks ruining a $300 piece of equipment, I'll just take a few seconds to adjust that. It would he nice if you could adjust it mid race though.

For rally or anything faster than the FGT i just pull the power cord out. Its beat but atleast i wont break the thing

It won't break, they are designed to be able to handle it, obviosly if you treat it badly then it will break sooner rather than later, but it's designed to be able to take the games force feedback, so play with it the way it's supposed to be played with, and it will be fine.

I was just asking what he meant by pull the cord. It almost seemed like he meant it would still work without the power cord.

Although I do agree, the wheel should be designed to take any abuse the game can throw at it.
