G27 mounting thingys

I just got a G27 and mounted the wheel on my stand without realizing that the pedals have to be plugged in first. I used the two mounting grip thingys but I can't loosen them again now? Anyone know where I'm going wrong? Don't want to force the issue and break the things.
 
You kind of have to push them in and twist them gently to get the knobs to pop up, then you can grip them more easily to turn them. That's all there is to it, really, no other tricks or anything so if you can't undo them, you just need to apply more force. Quite how you'll do that I have no idea, they aren't the easiest things in the world to grip, but yeah.
 
Yeah, I got one loosened but the other one is still there, there is no grip on those thingys, real poor bit of design that.
 
Thanks for the advice, finally got it just when i was considering pliers or a monkey wrench. I think I might become a serial killer and focus on product designers though, everyone needs a hobby. :)
