G27 Not Working Properly

Hey Guys

If I start up my PS3 using the button on the system and leave the sixaxis controller turned off, my G27 turns on and does its spin in both directions as it is supposed to.

The problem is then I reach the PS3 menu and the D Pad on the shifter doesn't do anything. I can't scroll through and select GT5 and load the game unless I turn on the controller. The only way I can get into the game and race is by using the sixaxis then once the race loads I grab the wheel and race. Any ideas why my DPad on the G27 does nothing?
 
Do they work in the race? I can't see why they wouldn't work unless they're not plugged in properly/broken.
 
If I set the sixaxis to controller 2 it still doesn't work. Once I get in and start racing the wheel and pedals work but nothing on the shifter works even though the green light is on. I can race for a little while then suddenly the wheel loses power and goes loose in the middle of a lap. I have to exit the game entirely to get the wheel functional again!

Is my wheel broken? Anybody else having weird stuff like this happen?

Not sure what you mean by this? I've tried booting up the PS3 with only the wheel connected. Doesn't work. I can navigate the PS3 menu by turning the wheel but thats it. I try setting the controller to #1 so wheel defaults to #2, doesn't work. I set the controller to #2 so wheel becomes #1. Doesn't work.

I'm out of options here...
 
Double checked all my connections and can't see anything wrong. The green light on the shifter is on but nothing on the shifter works at all. Just tried racing and about 30 seconds into the lap the wheel went loose and stopped working and the car kept accelerating even though I took my foot off the gas.

Do you have a pc game you can test the wheel with? It's sounding to me like your wheel is broken, I don't think this is anythign to do with the game.
 
I actually am experiencing the same problem as well. All the functions used to work with me during the first time i plugged it. Now, i have no idea what happened! I also lose control of the wheel halfway through a race, d-pad is not working, shifter works sometimes. pedals and steering work fine. I'm not sure if its my ps3 or if its the wheel or something. its frustrating!
