So i'm looking into buying a new wheel, I have had my DFGT for just over a year now and kind of want to move on to something a bit less plastic and more sturdy. At the moment I am leaning towards the Fanatec GT3 RS V2's with the CSR Elite pedals and CSR shifters because of the belt driven FFB and better on wheel features. I would like to have some advice on reliability though, i'm worried because of what I have heard about Fanatec and a lot of people always seem to have them brake down. Right now the Fanatec combo is 320 euros and I really don't want to spend more than that.

I have been looking at exactly the same options. My DFGT is 4 years old now and the accelerator pedal is spiking since December. I don't think it's influencing my performance on the virtual track that much, but it shows that it might be running on its last legs.

I actually think you can have the Fanatec for less if you buy the wheel and pedals together. They have a €260 bundle (excl. shipping):

edit: Only seeing now that you added the shifter set in your price as well. 320 is indeed the correct price of the whole package then, sorry :)

Yeah my brake has been sticking at 10 % for a few months now it doesn't happen always but when it does do it, it's super annoying because it's costing me a lot of time and since i participate in the WRS races i can't have that happen during a race because it will just ruin my race. Also i can move my wheel a centimeter up and down so it's just time for it to go. it's getting very extensive use so i guess it's done well for a 100 euro wheel.

Ive had my GT3RSv2 for 2 years now and has never broken, although i did take the orange cover off so the hot air doesnt just keep building inside. And i also moved the smaller fan that was doing nothing back at the motor so i get a little bit more cooling.

The only, and yes, only reason I got the G27 over the Fanatec wheel, is that the shipping to Canada was insane. It would be enough to put the price of the Porsche GT3 RS V2 Value Pack XL at $420. I got the G27 for $200

Thanks for replying guys I have made up my mind i'm going for the g27. Getting the gt3 rs with extras would be 100 euros more and for the problems some people have with fanatec wheels i'd rather have the more reliable logitech side i'm already more familiar with.

After the optical wheel in my G27 imploded I went to this exact setup and I absolutely love it. In my opinion the Fanatec wheel is better in just about every way, it's smoother, it's a little bigger so feels closer to a real wheel, the independent controls are really nice, the pedals are phenomenal and the shifter is really nice. The G27 has a known defect with the plastic optical wheel and it's very likely to break so I will never recommend them to anyone. I've been using my Fanatec for wheel over a year without a single issue.

It appears you've already opted for the G27 and I hope yours doesn't suffer the same fate mine and many others have but I still wanted to give my $.02USD.

Not really sure what you're talking about with the defect; the g27 is KNOWN to be a WAY more reliable wheel than the GT3 RS.

I say G27, because you can purchase one, put an ice pack on it via elastic band and saran wrap, force feedback to 10 (g27 ffb algorithm is considered THE BEST for GT6) and swap the wheel to 320mm/350mm and get a pedal mod and reverse mount it and still be cheaper than a GT3 RS. Not to mention it'll be way better than a stock GT3 RS to which to the extent of my knowledge is unmoddable :)

I know at least 3 other people personally who have had this happen and have read many many stories of others having it happen. I've had 4 different Logitech wheels, some of which lived for many years, and I used to preach the good word of Logitech.....but never again. The GT3 RS doesn't need to be modded, out of the box it's better than a stock or modded G27 in my personal opinion. And the CSR Elite pedals are very much better than any Logitech pedals, they are hands down the best "racing" purchase I've ever made (and my G27 pedals were Nixim modded and inverted).

Just my opinion and experience though, obviously not everyone will have the same.

Good choice everywhere I look they say fanatec wheels are very good but not reliable and the company doesn't offer good service. Enjoy your g27, playing this game with a wheel is great I could never go back to a controller.

@BrandonW77 I wouldn't say you and 3 other people make it a "very likely" to break, I would say there is a possibility it could break, but as has been said, the Fanatec stuff has also been know to end up faulty.

G27 is stressless choice, that "common" optical wheel problem will never happen if you tighten up that optical reader PC-board when feeling even little bit problem to keep wheel straight/drive straight.
My own G27 is (again) starting to loose center, it's something like 0,5-1.0mm on left side if measuring on wheel rim outer part, takes 15-20min to open wheel and tighten those screws and it's again working year or so.

Fanatec products are excellent when/if they work. I made choice between CSW+CSRElite or G27+AP Electrix BrakeMod, and winner was G27, CSW was mounted few months on my rig, but G27 reliability beats that up 100-1.

So I got the G27 in today loving it so far.

Your going to have a lot of fun, brings the game alive when you use a wheel.:gtpflag:

I voted for the G27 before noticing you got one. Good choice!

Fanatec stuff is wonderful, providing everything you get is in working order, which is not always the case (wasn't for me at least). I have an old trusty G25 hailing from 2009 and it has never skipped a beat. Also, look into the GTEYE spring, it'll really bring your G27 pedals alive.

Have fun!

Yes I know because I had a DFGT before. :P But having a H-patern shifter and a clutch is much better also the overal feel and build quality of the wheel is much better than that of the DFGT.

well i'm having to adjust heavily to the much more stiff brake compared to the DFGT already so I don't think i'll be making it even more stiffer anytime soon.
