Ultimetal
So, I'm using a G27 Racing Wheel to play GT5.

Yesterday (after quite a few days of break) I got into an online lobby. I noticed that in-game acceleration bar is a bit crazy. When I let go of the gas pedal, the bar is flickering! Also, when I'm changing gear (gas-clutch-gas), the bar doesn't go down 'smoothly' as it used to, but in 2-3 tiny flashes...

Is that a wheel issue or is it the game's fault (like something wrong with 2.08)? Or is it my connection (hardwired, 8 MB/s download, 2.3 upload, sometimes it's twice faster, the fastest I had were 30/9)? OR maybe it's just because I was online? (didn't think of trying offline, silly me)

Thanks in advance for all your help guys

I got it in September or late August so I don't think anything could break down... I'm really taking the proper 'care' of it and I'm very careful with it.

I have had mine longer than u and I don't have a problem got mine in April. So sorry I couldn't help I thought it would be a wear and tear thing if u have had it for a long time but I guess not sorry

Ok I might not be helpful because I use the DFGT, but I think it might be the update because I experienced this before in online rooms.

This has been observed using my EK I run 1/4s and a few online grip races. Only happened 2 or 3 times.

Offline RPMs are fine and normally drop to their respected idle RPM but Online the RPM will not completely drop, and like you said the bar will flicker. Driving AT can be a pain cause the RPM don't drop enough to down shift or if you let off the gas, it will pull you along at a speed not desired. Almost like the throttles stuck the bar will show 1/4 throttle with no input.

I have also noticed off and online some of the GTRs and a few other cars have a very high Idle RPM but when you give it a little gas they drop and increase with throttle input.

Good Racing, I hope my observations will help someone figure out this problem.

PS: I don't know if the last comment is relevant, just trying to help.

Also Ive had my DFGT since it was released as an official controller for GT5 I have had no problems with her it seems bullet proof(do not shoot your wheel it probably wont survive Ive wanted to though)

I've had this same problem a few times and its probobly common. To fix it all I had to do was take it apart and clean all the dust and dog hair out, then it worked like new again. Be carefull not to damage any wires, plastic bits or springs though.

Also this may void any warranty, I'm not sure though.

Taking your wheel apart will void the warranty if they can prove it. Also adding mods to your wheel, eg. soldering a E-Brake to the circuit board will void your warrenty.

Woo Hoo 50+ posts no longer a new member!!!!! Love Ya GTPlanet

I don't think it is. By GTRs you mean R35s, right? Anyway, this and the other cars' high idles are connected with their transmission, it's some high-tech thingie with which I'm not familiar. I think you're talking about a little acceleration being added when ayour car is stopped, eh?

Also - a probably important detail!
I'm also using my G27 for PC and during calibration the gas pedal was 100% OK, not even the slightest 'bar' movement when neutral. In games everything is just fine.

Had this problem with our G27, my other half took it apart and cleaned the pot with Isopropyl Alcohol, we had only had it for 3 months so time and use may not always be a factor. Going to order some replacements to keep on hand just in case.

I had this problem with the G27, fixed by cleaning lint, dust & hair out of the pedal box.
It accumulates filth on the greasy bits.

Disassembly your pedal set, clean up potentiometers with this: http://www.atel.com.pl/produkt.php?hash=04281. It's a spray for cleaning and regenerating potientiometers, if they get dirty, they start to misbehave. I've gone through two sets of DFGT's, now I have G27 and both wheels had this problem. Don't worry to disassemble your pedal set, there is nothing wrong to go in there, there are potentiometers, few cables and springs. You're not disassembling wheel, so you won't lose warranty on that. You can try to write to Logitech, if you're lucky maybe they'll send you another wheel, they sent me a new DFGT, when I had this problem, but with G27 they wanted to take it for a repair and I prefered to do this on my own, cause I know exactly what the problem is.

I have the same problem and already cleaned the pot meters with a vacuum cleaner but this only helped for a short while. I can't find Kontakt PR anywhere, only at your link. So I'm thinking of using an IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) spray to clean it now. However, I am concerned that this doesn't lubricate the pot meters. (Kontakt PR does according to the website)

Do you happen to know anything about this?

I tried it, fixed the brake but then the accelerator broke even after multiple attempts to fix it. Had no option but to get a new pedal set then wrapped it using plastic and duct tape to seal it from dust. Has been working well so far.
The stuff they use is pretty poor, especially the metals some (well alot) of which are not actually the "stainless steel" advertised.

Well, i gave him link to Kontakt PR, cause we're both Polish and this is a Polish product. You need to find something in spray for cleaning potentiometers. Alcohol is not the best choice, cause special sprays for potentiometers also oil them, so they don't wear out. And alcohol would just wash out the oil. Try to find something, as I don't know Dutch for 'potentiometers'

I'll start looking for something specially made for potentiometers then. Thanks for the advice.
