I've been racing GT5 with the controller since the past 2 years. I'm a new G27 owner since yesterday and, like every child on Christmas, I was excited to try it. I've done 5 races.. and afterwards, my arms were sore. Now, I've tried to lower the force feedback, which personally, I didn't see a difference. I don't have the power steering on. My problem is this: is it normal that my wheel kicks left and right constantly even in a straight line? I have no idea what to do... Thanks for your help!

Your arms will be sore until you get used to it, especially if you dont drive a car in real life.
As far as jumping left to right in a straight line, I am guessing you might be exxagerating the situation. It will pull the wheel when you hit bumps and curbs and such, and you cant let go of the wheel really, but it should only take a light grip to maintain a straight line (assuming your not driving an X1)...

Also, wrong forum for this post. Should be in hardware section.

If you turn the Power Steering "assist" on, it should help with your getting tired too quickly. It isn't an assist like the Skid Force Recovery or Traction Control if you're wondering.

Took me a while to get used to it, i found the best way is to crowd the wheel and use it like a stock car driver does, up close and personal, but that's just me.

Also I would start practicing in lower pp cars, and work your way up.

Speaking of the X1, I hear that driving it will destroy your FFB. Can anyone confirm or debunk this?

It killed my first G27 but that was before that one patch came out that was supposed to fix the strong FB from that car. Seems a bit better now with it at 1 but I wouldn't drive that car for long periods of time as my wheel housing still gets hot when I do drive that car. Thats been my experience anyway.

Make sure your wheel is plugged into an outlet when you power on your PS3. Some say it calibrates better this way.

Don't be afraid to turn the FFB down. Just because people like to brag about running it at level 10 doesn't mean you have to. To be honest, I do a lot of dirty racing at Daytona and need to make quick corrections. I run FFB at 1 and it steers just like the 2 real cars I owned that didn't have power steering.

Bagmup also makes a great point. Get the wheel as close to you as possible. My arms still get a little tight because I need to move the wheel closer to me. Then again I usually run 3 hours a night lol.

I have the same "problem" with my G27 when driving on a straight line. The wheel just keeps moving/kicking left and right. For me that's not realistic, because I have to hold the wheel tight even when I'm just driving straight. To be honest I think that the wheel is the problem because of the dead zone when the wheel is in it's (let's call it) "rest zone"/"0 degree angle".

How is it not realistic? Have you ever driven down a highway or any road going 100 clicks? You have to hold your wheel tight or you're screwed. I've hit nearly 260kmh in my Maxima (on a track), I had to hold on for dear life to keep control.

I have a G27 and run my FB on 8. I only have the problem your talking about when I drive the X10 cars. Otherwise, steering feels fine.

Oh yeah, i remember an old Nascar sim i used to play, and on the straightaway you had to hold the wheel to the right because with a good setup, a stockcar wants to naturally turn left.

I felt the same problem when I got my first g27 about 3 months ago I thought there was a problem with it and almost took it back. Then one night I got drunk an started to fight the wheel back and after a day of driving I started to understand what the wheel is trying to simulate. I turned the ffb to 1 an only just this last eeek I turned it up to ten an now im ok with it. Keep with it it sure is fun when you can learn to drive with someone right next to you on the nurburgring. :) hope this was helpful

Well I would then say that you probably need to check your suspension/tires?! I haven't driven 260km/h but I regularly drive 200 and some times 230 on the "Autobahn" when I'm driving thru Germany. I have never experienced what you are describing...I can hold my wheel with two fingers if I want to, the car is in balance.

Nub it to the side a bit, you'll see what I'm talking about, you'll be fighting to get it straight again.

My car is a bit on the heavy side, maybe that could be a problem too.
