Hi everyone,

I just finished my cockpit and am ready to play with my new wheel, but am unsure of what to do with what came in the box.... There is a cd with drivers for a computer and a rfactor cd. Do I need to do anything or just plug and play? Are the settings changed in gt5 or on the computer?

Thanks!

Josh

just plug it in and play if your using if for GT5, or any console game. If you were to use it for a PC sim/game, then you would install the software on the CD on your PC.

Use the options menu in GT5 to change the wheel settings, I recommend setting the wheel to simulator and FFB to 5/6.

Im not sure either of the above settings have any effect on the G27. I dont own a G27 I own a G25 and I cant tell the difference when the wheel is on Simulation. Though the FFB setting does work on the G25. Ive heard people saying that it makes no difference on the G27.

I am not entirely sure what works and what doesn't at the moment. The FFB is hit and miss using the G27 in GT5. Indeed if that is the case then there is no harm in using these settings.

Regardless of whether or not PD release a patch to improve compatibility for the G27, the wheel still provides a great GT5 gaming experience.

Be sure you turn the Steering Assist option off (the one that makes it easier when going into a curve) and it makes the FFB way more consistent. I ended up turning my FFB down to 6 because the G27 was dominating what my DFP was putting out.

G27 is not officially supported by GT5 (Polyphony) therefore the options in the game may or may not work, depending on how Logitech exports features or buttons from their other wheels to the G27 ie. FFB is from GT Driving Force

I set it for Simulation (hey, why not?) and changed my FFB to 6, and then changed the driver settings (assists, ABS, ect...) and set the braking on the car "correctly" and when I drive now it feels damn real... I will say I notice a difference... but it could be any one of the several adjustments GT5 offers.

Im Glad your buzzing M8...I tried all wheel settings from simulation down...I still dont think they effect the G25...Like I said I cant speak for the G27...I only heard that FFB changes dont effect the G27....Though Ive seen posts saying active steering etc effects it.. mine is on 5 now and I can turn it up but it shakes the hell out of me....

Like that you set up the brakes...I go for 100% front 50% rear...2:1....I think the standard in real life is 3:1 depending on the surface but I like my way....

Oh and I rarely use assists...ABS=1...sometimes I forget and use TC=5..I soon realise when my revs drop all the time....:)

I too like the FFB of the logitech's its the closest Ive come to driving a real car quickly...I must admit however Ive only ever owned logitech wheels. Ive driven some real cars on track days...Im not a race driver but im not blowing smoke either.

Add me on your PS3...Id is at the side!

I am glade these settings have worked out for you, as thedeester1 rightly says I am not sure how many of the changes produce a tangible result but as long as it works for you.

When you say you have changed your brake setting are you referring to the tuning garage?

Right. But in the interest of helping my fellow man, I'll do some experimenting and see if I can document what changes and what doesn't. As far as I can tell tho, pretty much every setting has an effect. While it may not show in the options, it's obvious to me that Polyphony programmed in support for that wheel, even specific functions like the clutch pedal and the shift lights. I say change a setting, run a lap, change a setting, run a lap... eventually it'll feel right to you too.

And yes, I adjust the brakes in the tuning garage.

new user here as well ... got my PS3, G27, HDMI TV and built my cockpit on the same week GT5 came out LoL .... best $1500NZ spent hahahaha ... anyways ... does anyone here know how to reprogram the 6x red buttons on the steering wheel itself? would like to reconfig them for headlights, hand brakes, horn, reverse (for paddle shift cars like the GTR!), oil slick, etc =)

I just opened my G27 about a half hour ago. Have turned off all assists but still when exiting the corners I get a pretty severe occillation in the wheel. Have to really grip it to keep the car form going out of control. I am going to switch to a different track and car (this was Indy and the Fort GT40 LM II). But power on or off, still had the occillation when coming out of corners. Any ideas what may be causing it, or is this normal?
