how many of you here got the shifter with your G29?

Reason why I ask... I've got mine at home still in the box and unused which will remain that way as it really doesnt interest me.

Was thinking of doing a giveaway, maybe have a race with the G29 users and winner gets the shifter posted by me?

lets see how many of you have already got it... and if not would you be interested in racing for one?

Don't even bought it (was an optional for 30£ or 35£) when I bought my G29

First of all, most of the users say it's rubish.

Second, I really enjoy using paddles, as most racing cars nowadays have it.

Third, some people say the G27 shifter can be dialed on G29. Unfortunately you can't buy it as spare on Logitech support anymore.

not the most encouraging of first responses but we will see what others say.

I bought mine as a package from Currys for £149, but I use paddles like you so I have no interest in the shifter.

But I'm sure some people here would like it... just thought we could race for it and make it more fun! postage etc all covered by me, so no cost to you guys! I'm doing it from the goodwill of my heart haha

Yes
And it's horrible on GTS

Works fine on other games though (PCars)

If you're gonna use it, expect a lot of mis shifts (especially from a standing start in low powered cars)

The problem is that GTS thinks the clutch is a on-off-switch instead of a pedal like throttle and brake :banghead: Has been like that in GT6 too

Yes, I use it for cars that do not have paddles, however you need to shift without using the clutch. I raised a bug report during the beta about it, but its still broken. Simply shift without pressing the clutch pedal and it seems to work OK. Would be nice if you could disable the clutch button mapping so you can still use the clutch without it actually doing anything, and avoid the mis-shift. As stated, clutch and shifter work fine in other games.

ok so far we have 0 entrants, looks like it'll be heading off to ebay later tonight lol
DON'T

If you ever get PSVR you will regret it!

I had a shifter on G25 and loved it, but missed shifts meant I wasn't as competitive in online races.

Now I have PSVR I have been thinking about getting the shifter for my G29, just to add to the immersion driving the 330 and XJ13, and miss shifts would just add to the fun, it's not like I'm competing against the AI, I already have the attachment to fit it to my rig, but setting it up for right hand shifting would be a bit weird to get used to initially.

That's rather contradictory
Don't you want him to sell it to ebay for you to buy? ;)

Well, if he still decides to sell it, he will hopefully post a link :D

Here are some other points to consider though..

Logitech have two year warranty, so if you need to replace your wheel you may need it.
It's more likely that the g29 will outlive the game, so If you upgrade the wheel in the future, that gearstick will help sell it, especially to the PC guys.

I bought the stage 1 shifter mod for mine for $17. Easy to install and fits great. Nice feeling a stiffer shifting in and out of each gear now.

I want to give it away to one of you guys. absolutely no cost at all, all I want is to setup a race with a few interested people and winner takes all haha

Cool idea to have a give away race ! Surely there must be some that want to give this a go.

I have the T8HA shifter, i dont think ive tried it in GTS and dont use it competitive. But it can be great fun driving with it around the Nordschleife in Assetto Corsa.

Nice way to go OP 👍

I like it that PD made shifting manually slightly faster for a car which in game has a manual instead of the paddles. So if you use the paddles to change gears, than it will be a little slower than if you use the clutch and the manual shifter. Dont know if many have noticed this ?

A good stimulation for people to actually use the manual shifter instead of the pedals in those none racing cars. Maybe a good reason for us all to start shifting manually more ?

However, most ingame cars have paddles which is logical since it is more about racing cars. Than shifting manually is useless and you need to use the paddles.

But I love using the T8HA shifter in GTS. Just brilliant with the KTM, Swift, Supra, 512BB etc etc

I have it and loved it on Pcars and dirt rally but it feels odd in GTS, when you use the clutch it doesn’t always go into gear, I find myself having to shift without the clutch, which is pointless.

I haven’t used it on the last 2 updates so if it’s been fixed, please let me know.

I had noticed a problem during start when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. I thought it was me. The problem is that GTS sees the clutch only as on/off as stated above. So sometimes you are not clearly stepping on the clutch and shifting at that exact moment so it doesnt shift properly. It is not a bug, it is just a way to learn.

I alsmost have no misshifts anymore. I also noticed that starting (standing start) with a clutch makes it easier to get away quickly without spinning. But in sport mode there are rolling starts so i have not much advantage there.

So there are some nice benefits when using the manual shifter. I expect this was all done on purpose to stimulate people using it.

Honestly, it just incentivized me to drive in a totally unrealistic way. Manual for shifting up, and paddles for shifting down. I use complete manual in lobbies, but when it becomes competitive and I have to find every edge I can get, I resort to that pathetic hybrid shifting technique

But I'm in, if possible with my schedules :)

Yeh I'm in too, if it's at a time I can play.
I kick myself for not picking up a backup wheel with it included while it was £150.
