I know this sort of topic has been copiously covered in the past, but I want to exhaust all possible options before restarting.

During my install of Patch v1.10, I got an error message, and it turned out that my Game Data was corrupted. It seems my Save Data is fine, as it appears as normal, and has my correct details - such as the car I last used.

So I was wondering if it was possible to re-install the game without losing my profile information? It now wants me to re-install all of the patches again.

I would be extremely grateful for anyone's help! :)

As long as you have your save file, you'll be fine. Just to be extra safe, you should keep a backup of that save file on a portable storage device or any other storage device before re-installing the GT5 game data, it'll also help for future instances.

OK, thanks - so I should just continue and re-install all the patches and game?

Thanks again!

I've backed up my save file to USB and my PC just in case. Fingers crossed it works

so if you re-install the game you have to download all patches in sequence? That would take ages!

The PS3 save data seems safe, as I was able to load my profile in v1.0, however it seems I have a wider problem, in that I can't install any XMB firmware or game patch to my system...

Yep... The same if you buy it now, I suppose, as I don't think they've re-released the CDs as a patched version.

I'm in the same boat as you my friend. It says my game data corrupted as well, so I formatted my PS3 Hard Drive, but made sure I had a backup save to my USB stick. Praying this works.

Try deleting the GT5 game data and then placing your PS3 in safe mode, then rebuilding data base and restoring file system.

When completed then try re-installing the GT5 game data to see if it works properly. If all else fails.....format. Good luck.👍

Just a follow-up to my problems.

My PS3 ended up getting a couple of days 'rest' as I was busy, and then when I tried to install the firmware update today and then all of GT5's patches, it worked perfectly on the first attempt.

It was very time consuming to install every patch, and then pre-install the game again to speed up the loading times, but it could be worse. Lucky my internet is reasonably fast, as for some others, that might be even worse.

Just for those who might find this through searching - the error codes I had for the installation problems were 8002F997 and 80029564, and just leaving your PS3 for a day or two might be worth a try.

And one other thing, it was a pleasant surprise to be given the prize cars for the Nurburgring special events again - particularly as I had previously sold my CLK-GTR. :P

Lets hope the "rest period"works for me too. I have the same problem, except now I cant even intstall games off psn. Installed fine just before updating to FW3.65(really hoping its not a FW issue).

Ok I rebuilt database and restored the file system. I just updated to 3.65 via Storage Device, and now I'm currently downloading GT5 and it's updates. Crossing my fingers that this works.

It didn't work! That's it I've had it with this stupid god awful error! Because of this incredibly stupid error (80029564), I can't play GT5 online, reinstall my Saints Row 2 DLCs, play Shift 1 OR 2, and can't buy ANYTHING off Playstation store or install it! Restoring file system did ****, rebuilding database did ****, even COMPLETELY formatting my PS3 did absolutely NOTHING!!

I had this error a while ago when I changed out my router. Few setting changes here and there and a static IP though DHCP solved the issue.
