hello,

this morning i played gt4 for a while, i won a race but i wanted to stop playing so i want to shut down my ps2, by accident i shut down the ps2 while gt4 was savind.:nervous:
now i cant play gt4 because my "game date" is corrupted, can anyone help me with anything i could do to get my old game date back?

tnx Frank

Sorry to hear that, Frenkel, but it's not looking good - once it's gone, it's gone - and unless you had it saved on another memory card, or backed up on your PC via a MaxDrive or something, then you will probably have to accept the fact that you've lost your game data...:indiff:

Sadly, there is nothing that can be done to save the data on the card. Sorry to say this but that's the truth. You are best off by deleting the data using the PS2 browser and starting again.

I know that it doesn't make you feel much better, but you're not the first one (and not the last one) to encounter this. I had a variation of it in GT3. Some tips for the future:

1. Turn off the Auto-Save in the Options menu. This will prevent accidental saving. The game will be saved every time you change cars though.

2. Buy a second memory card and copy the game save to it every now and then. The spare card will be worth its price in gold if the main card gets corrupted.

Life continues, so does playing GT4. :)

On the plus side, welcome to the Data Corrupt Club :sly:

It's happened to the best of us

life is hard but anyways tnx for the tips,

luckily my cousing plays Gt4 too, so i can copy the data from his mem. card.

not the same cars though, but atleast i dont have to start all over again

oh dont remind me..from the days of the "original" GT all the way through my full collection to GT4 and i have been plagued with this dredded curse:nervous:

Good advice; Just a word of caution, I was reading about MaxDrive's on a leading online store where people can leave comments(the one named after a big river...). Anyways...one person loved it, the others all gave it one star and said it had corrupted their memory cards! :ouch: 💡

I love the idea of MaxDrive and will be getting one myself but before you transfer any data to it back up the entire memory card to a second one from the main PS/2 browser (Do not use the save utility in GT4!). Take that second card and put it away.

Appie said tough luck, yeah agreed, and this is liek the 15th time someone has made a thread about it. SEARCH!!!!! and you wouldn't get such a negative awnser from me. Tough fricken luck to you. It happened to me at 80 somthing %
, i think around there. and i had to redu everything, even Mission 34, all 3 24hr races. Actually all the missions. Now have fun rebeating it.

Yeah we told him, you don't need to say it again.

any mod, please just close this thread its going no where.

It happened to me last night. I just joined the club. I was SO perturbed but had nobody but myself to blame. I had worked for almost three months on it. But it was kinda cool (after walking away for about half an hour) to go back to the beginning. It's like being immersed in Calculus and suddenly going back to Algebra. It won't take long to get back to where I was. You can bet money I will be saving often from this point forward.:dunce:
