Hi all,

I recently downloaded GT5 from PS3 Network. I did have the Blu-Ray disc version but it got damaged, so I had to download it from the net.

The trouble is, now the game is not loading my saved data. I have hours of play, the F1 car and millions in the bank saved somewhere on my hard drive, but the game is not loading any of it and I don't know how to 'tell' the game where, or how, to find it.

I'm sure someone else must have had this problem.

Please could somebody advise me on what to do - I can't find any information anywhere else.

Many thanks in advance.

Have you even attempted to play the game???

Have I attempted to play it? Of course I have.

As soon as it had downloaded, I turned it on and expected all my cars and money to be there, but theyr'e not.

I have since found some other blogs that refer to this problem, and they say it is possible to get the game to recognise saved data, but they are extremely vague and not at all helpful.

OK.

I have now downloaded the saved game files and put them onto an external hard drive.

Now, when I try to access these saved games, the PS3 cannot read them and I get a no saved data message via the SAVED GAME DATA menu.

VERY confused now, and EXTREMELY pi**ed off with my PS3. I have never had any trouble with my XBOX!

The instructions are not clear.

"The files need to be extracted to look like this"
Like WHAT? That is just a screen shot of an ZIP file extractor.

"And then copied into the a /PS3/SAVEDATA folder in the device's root directory"

I have a PS3 folder, but it says nothing about SAVEDATA. What does that 'a' before the "/PS3" mean? (And then copied into the a /PS3/SAVEDATA folder in the device's root directory

Ignore the 'a' preceding '/PS3/SAVEDATA'.

The picture is presented so that you know what files are to be copied for a complete save. Several people tried to copy the zip file directly, and that didn't work well. The picture was added so you know what it should look like when you've successfully extracted the zip.

If you want an example of what your USB drive file system needs to look like before the XMB copy will recognize it, try doing the reverse: copy your current save game to your thumb drive, take it to your PC, and see where the files are.

You'll find that the directions are accurate: ensure that the gamesave you are copying is in /PS3/SAVEDATA on the thumb drive, and then plug it into your PS3. The XMB should be able to find it then.
