Game decides to race without me?

Ok, so something very weird happened last night. I was doing the NASCAR event in the Extreme Series in A-Spec. I was on the last race, Daytona Speedway. Was coming onto the second lap when the car behind me clipped my rear end and span me out in one crazy way.

Once my car had proceeded to stop, it then decided to race the rest of the 9 laps without me. All I could do was sit there while my car auto raced. It finished me in 12th... Still won the championship thankfully.

Can anyone explain this to me or has it happened to anyone else before?

Before anyone says proof or gtfo... Video is below. Shows the car auto racing after the spin. (with me showing you the controller and showing it will not let me control the car) and then the replay of what happened.

0:00-4:30 auto racing, me proving I am not racing.
4:30 < the replay of me racing, the spin, then auto racing.

Video was shot from my phone at 480p as forgot to turn on the 720p. Otherwise quality would have been better but its still clear. Lights are off as it was 1am, but you can still see what I am doing. Sound is also quiet as I had my headphones on...

Before anyone says b-spec, look carefully at the dudes name. I've never seen a B-spec driver with numbers.. :)

And it's not from the replay, you can see the quick function menu pop up.. This has me fooled

EDIT: Unless there's someone behind him racing...

My PSN id is: FreelanceX-KZR, and you see me pausing and changing view with 1st controller. I dont have a wheel (quick menu assigned to R3) and at one point I hold up both controllers.

Just wanted to show I am not posting this for kicks...

EDIT: Look at my laptimes. All within .2 of a second. Only ever done that once before and that was to get the trophy in practice mode (with ghost for reference).

Jeff Gordon didn't think you passed the NASCAR School and gave you the passenger seat... unfortunately for him, he's not that much better himself.

I believe it, GT5 is buggy as hell and does all kinds of weird things.

Suprisingly, this is the first bug ive encountered... (Minus being in an A-Spec race where the 6 cars infront of me started drifting all the turns... weird...) and I think this is a huge bug for my first. Hence me actually bothering to shoot a video at 1am, while the girlfriend is asleep behind me...

Lol. Passed the NASCAR special event all gold. I would have been less bemused if I would have got 1st place, but he never broke 205mph. lol.

If your gearing wasn't so wrong it wouldn't have happened.. but that's besides the point. It looks like it got into the pit lane and "auto drove" out but never relinquished control.

Gearing was auto setting 249mph. I could reach 240mph while drafting so I thought the gearing was appropriate. But, who am I to state otherwise.

The auto pit driving does make sense as I did spin into it. Although does not excuse it. Best explanation Ive heard. If someone is at home maybe they can try driving into it like I did and see if it happens every time?

Wow it looked like you were bouncing off limiter. Strange - I thought that's why you kept slowing down. Oh well.

Yeah you might be able to reproduce that if you go into the pits like that or it might have been a 1 in a million thing where you have to be going exact direction at exact speed, etc., and never reproduce it. Definitely weird bug though.

Theres been a previous thread off something similar happening at tskuba, seems to be a very rare bug but can happen, at tskuba it was something to do with the pits as well.

You could probably try to replicate it a million times and never succeed.

P.S it was your fault you got spun, not that you said it wasnt but just thought id say, you moved onto the AI cars line in a turn, cant do that without risking a spin hehe

Nope I wasn't hitting the limiter. Think that is just the stupid AI on rails. I'm just glad it didn't do the rest of the race at pit lane speed!

I was wondering this. If you did this in an x2010 and it auto did the race (fast enough to win), is that a new form of A-Spec auto grinding? No need for Rubber band?

If it is a 1 in million chance, then obviously this will not work. But if you can replicate this, then maybe people can grind some races? Is there an endurance race on this track? Haven't done any as of yet. The FGT is my last race to do before the endurance races.
