This has happened to me a few times when I exit a room Online. It's getting quite annoying now and I'm paranoid now to play online for the fact my game save might get corrupted or something. I don't have a trace what can be causing the problem. When I play online on other games, it's works perfectly. It's only Gran Turismo thats freezing online when I exit a Room. I've tried the trick of clearing my cache many times, but that doesn't seem to work. Has this been happening to you lately or anyone you know?

This happens to me. It happens when i've been in-game too long (5+ hours)

Restarting my ps3 always fixes the issue. I have no idea why. Maybe theres some kind of cache or server time out.

I know this is the problem because, if I spend 5 or so hours doing something (like ucd cycling) then try to connect to a lobby, it will freeze at the black screen and the loading bar will just load forever.

I am so tired of having more than 12 ppl in my lobby, we race 2 or 3 great races then when I try to go to another track right after, .... <!BOOM!> freeze:ouch:. Sucks so bad. It's hard enough getting a room full of good racer's together whom you may not know, then you get the carpet pulled from beneath you when the darn thing freezes and you have no choice but to quit the game. Also today I noticed I kept getting this weird feedback when there were 16 ppl in the room. It was coming in through my Turtle Beach DPX21's and all I could do was turn the sound down all the way or unplug them (it wasn't anyone else as I muted everyone). This has never happened before and worries me a bit.

...And yes cache has been deleted grrrrr...

Before you begin your game, try these steps. It's kept things a bit more stable for me.

1. Reset your modem, and make sure you're hardwired directly to the modem. If possible, bypass any routers.

2. Reset your time via internet. Perhaps it helps global syncing, perhaps it wakes up the demon in the PS3, I dunno. Since I've started doing it, I've had far fewer freezes. Literally next to none.

3. Sync your trophies. See above.

4. Clear your system cache. Start the game, go into the game options, go into network and Clear System Cache. If you play online a lot, grind seasonals, or grind b-spec remote races, your game will lag, glitch, and lock.

5. Save your game. Jesus saves and so should you. Before joining any lobby, seasonal, or remote race, save your game. When you're done, clear your system cache, save, then backup your save on your computer, etc.

I'm not a programer or hardcore gamer, but glitches were discovered since day one of the game, and following these simple steps has made life much easier for me online.

Thanks, I'll do these steps tomorrow. Hopefully it works out.

Im having these lobby exit freezes also. Im guessing its the 2.03 bug, because i've never had such a freeze before, and now it happens every time i exit lobby. Matter of fact, in over a year that i play this game it froze like 2 or 3 times max, but now it does 3 times a day.

I, too, have encountered voice problems with my headset. I attribute them to- a: PD servers being tied up for whatever reason b: the host chose a better-than-recommended quality and c: out-of-region players in the room.

a- PD servers haven't been the greatest since day one, but to be honest they're also asked to do an awful lot.

b- Chose "High" when "Poor" was recommended. New player, so go figure.

c- This problem is normally absent so long as everyone in the lobby is of the same region. This isn't always the case, as some countries have a better speed than I do, so I'm forced to make judgement calls when hosting.

For the sake of stability, I generally host with Voice disabled. I don't like it, but it has helped, especially since I apparently have a penchant for racing people with wheels (I use a DS3). See the Bug detailed in the News section. I also limit my room size to 12, although that apparently is becoming too much and I should probably scale down to 10, which I hate but it does provide better racing.

Also, before beginning the race, have all drivers exit their practice laps, so that they're in the pits when the countdown starts, or before 15 secs. left to go in the countdown at the latest. Doing so has helped the transitions from countdown to actual race-start countdown (i.e. 3,2,1, etc.), dramatically shortening the black screen between. Problem with that is convincing 9 other people that it's in their best interest, as you inevitably come across people that want to do things their way, consequences be damned.

As with everything in Gran Turismo, your milage may vary.

Edit- One thing I also forgot to mention is to disable any custom soundtracks. If you're playing your music, or have it enabled, it has effected game play in the past, and (to my knowledge) hasn't fully been resolved. Besides, you should be racing, not headbanging to Boheimian Rhapsody.

tnx for lightening that up MrMclaren

tho i seriously think taht the infamous 2.03 bug is causing this, cuz i never had that before this update :(

and i regularly clear my caches

Server/lobby stability has been a problem well before 2.03. The freezes upon exit, though, I have no idea. Only had the problem a couple times when I didn't follow the prescribed steps above.

The voice problem, however, appears to be recent.

never experienced much problems when playing online (i'm euro, and hang a lot in US n JDM Rooms)

now (since 2.03) this game bugs and freezes, that i almost don't want to play it anymore

I run a cheap 40 gig fatty that I bought the day Prologue was released. I have also been known to b-spec Remote Race for 24-48 hours non-stop. PD didn't do anything to your PS3, otherwise mine surely would've died ages ago.

To prolong your PS3 life, ensure the vents are clean and that the system has more than adequate air circulation.

Yes this happened to me yesterday and when loading up too,I just quit the game and reloaded it it was fine after that.👍

Follow the steps listed above, and you should see a noticeable difference.

1. I live in a big wide open house that's older w/o LAN built into the walls so wireless is my only choice presently.

2. I resynched the time on my PS3 and amazingly mine was 2 minutes ahead (?)

3. ..also I refreshed trophies.

4. I clear system cache incessantly.

5. I am a plus member so SNE better damn well have all my saves on the cloud!

All of the housekeeping tips listed above are just logical and should be a ritual we go through regularly. I find it a small price to pay in order to enjoy the best console racing sim on the planet! :gtpflag:

I was thinking the same thing at first, but honestly I was having the issues even before 2.03. Hopefully by taking the steps above it will greatly reduce PS3 restarts crashes and freezes. I shall soon find out.

I run a slim 250GB myself and run it A LOT & not just GT either but the majority is GT5. I have a dedicated fan running on the back of my PS3 to keep it cool and ward off as many particulates as possible. The thing still looks like it came out of the box 3 years ago. That sucks to hear that happened to you man. Hope you get back on board soon.

Well I *never* play custom soundtracks, why? Because I love the GT5  soundtrack! I always tell drivers to pit but yes like you say sometimes it's very hard to "herd cats" and inevitably there are 3 or 4 guys who are going to drive around before the flag no matter what. I haven't tried hosting w/o voice but may give it a whirl today. Hell I know broadband speeds in other countries can be higher but I'm running 50Mbps wideband turbo here and PD recommends everything "high" for me so that's what I use. And... yeah I rarely race same region... I almost always go to "ALL" and then create the room so that I can get drivers in from all over the world rather quickly. Maybe....just maybe this is contributing is some small way to the awful feedback heard in my DPX21's the other day. I shall soon find out as I'm launching a new lobby in minutes. I'll post the room number a little later in case anyone wants to help me test conditions after the "reboot".

You WILL FREEZE when backing out of the online lobbylist if you press circle BEFORE the list of rooms has refreshed

Regardless of recommendation (HIGH), I always set the race and voice (when I do run it) to Standard or lower. I think PD recommendations are wishful thinking under ideal circumstances.

You are a lucky guy and i hope it stays like that

What i am trying to say here is that when sony and pd do not do anything to the online gaming and continue with freezes that do hard resets to your ps3 system this WILL affect your console after a certain time and damage it .

I want to say that i am on a fiber internet and togheter with someone from sony on tel 1.5 hour been busy with trying everyting to look at my setup and connections .

I did warn sony that this will damage consoles and they agreed with me that its a very bad way to threat a ps3 !!

All things you already wrote above i did do play the game from the first day lvl 40/40 250.000 km in the game hosting rooms for months .

Again what i am trying is that there is going to be an action from sony or pd to improve and to admit there is a problem .

After calling mailing writing on playstation forum giving them links from this forum and others they still say they have no records of complaints and no problem (have that in writing and by telephone)

After 4 days been called by sony that they are gonna repair my 15 months old slim under warranty because of the earlier complaints i did by telephone over online freezes black screens etc !

I'd like to add something here as well. If you're hell bent on running large rooms, or running in them, see that "Visible Damage" is turned off, maybe even physical damage that affects your car also. It's just more data for the PS3 to crunch, processer time that could be spent doing other things like rendering a smooth race. The old adage "The more the merrier" does not work here. "Less is best" does though.
