Game loading times skyrocketed for no reason

Hello peeps!

Some of you might remember when I was searching for a laptop to buy, and those will probably remember what I bought. It was the ASUS X64-JA (N-series) I bought.

Recently, I've bumped into something that for some reason I can't explain; the time it takes during loading screens within games have increased dramatically since not too long ago without any apparent reason.

I've searched my system for any malware, but it's all clear. Also ran CCleaner and deleted any files that currently are not in use. I've also tried to use my flash drive USB with Readyboost to see whether it might be a RAM-related issue, but to no avail. The laptop runs in the highest performance battery setting, and no fancy widgets or desktop customization applications are being run when playing said games.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue like this before and could possibly help me pinpoint where the problem might be at?

*EDIT* For a comparison: When I play League of Legends with my friends, my mate's Macbook 13" pretty much leaves my ASUS standing at the start line, something which wasn't the case before the issue started showing up.

Goes to show how little I actually know of computers.

I always thought RAM decided how fast your computer could load applications, but it seems a defrag could indeed help out a bit.

They work together. If all parts of a same file are in the same place and not spread out across a distance, it'll load into RAM faster.

Think of it like reading a book, and on page 30 of the book you're reading, it turns into another book that was continuing from some other other book on page 57, at the end of page 30 of the book you're reading. It says "page 31 & the rest of the book is continued on this shelf across the room." Sounds pretty bad huh?

Try a defrag and see if that helps. A lot of online games tend to make computers get really fragmented when they patch or update. TF2 is a great example of this.

Defrag really slows things down when it gets bad.

Extra memory or faster memory can only help so much.

Defrag went on throughout the night, so I guess there was a lot to defrag.

Will see how the results are tonight, but I've already noticed a big boost in how quickly the laptop boots up.

Windows one does not do a good job, at times it causes more fragmentation.

Try Defraggler which is free but the best paid one is Diskeeper.

If you use any sort of flash memory(USB drive or SSD) you will not need to defrag these.
