Game save HDD change

I'm planning to replace my PS3 HDD and was wondering what I need to do to preserve my Game save. Is it content protected?

Back it up onto a stick, then when you have swapped hard drives, just place it back into the save game file on your ps3.

Its only account protected, so as long as the account is still the same, no problem.

GT5 is one of those odd games that allow you to copy the save but not use it.

I had this problem with Burnout Paradise before. I think my best bet is to get one months PS+ and backup to the cloud, that way at least it will be tied to my PSN account.

No, its only locked to the account.

If your psn id is cue2, you can only use that save with cue2. Even if you get another ps3, as long as cue2 is the user id, it will work.

I have replaced the hard drive in my PS3 and all I did was back up all my save data onto an external hard drive and once i replaced the hard drive in my PS3 i just re-loaded the save data.

Just completed the HDD change and everything went smoothly. Oddly it even kept all my old user ID after inserting the new drive which meant I didn't even have to re-enter anything. Just transfered my gamesave and I was good to go. Thanks again dhandes and s10train.
