When I press the PS button IN GAME to get to the XMB, it seems I can't access anything game save related. The reason I want to save (and don't even know if this is possible) is because I want to buy an expensive car, but don't want to loose the CR if the car sucks. I want to buy it, but if it's terrible want the option to reload the game to where I was BEFORE I bought said car. How can I do this?

I didn't try to save with the game not running because I figured I can't save IN game data without the game running. Am I wrong here, what am I missing? Stupid questions I know, but I really only watch movies and just play a few games that don't need saving on the PS3. Now that I am back into GT5 I want to be able to save to my USB. Sorry for the long post here!

Just do seasonal events you get huge load of money, and you wont have to worry about credits.

The snow must be getting to you :p

Save daily into a USB.

Now before you buy a car, leave the game and SAVE to a USB. Go in and if the car is not what you thought it to be, exit and RELOAD the save.

NO issues with losing credits. But, if the car was to your liking....then you will have to grind away to make the credits back.

Just to let you know you cannot access PS3 Save data Utility while in any game. Game data you can but that is totally irrelevant to what you are trying to do.

Here's what you do.

1. Before you buy the car exit GT5
2. Insert your USB flash drive into your PS3 and go to save data utility.
3. Locate the Gran Turismo 5 save data (NOT THE BACK UP)
4. Click triangle and then select copy then select copy to flash drive.
5. Start GT5 go buy and try the car.

If you do not like the car here's what you do.

6. Exit GT5 and then go to your save data utility.
7. Go to the USB flash drive and locate your save data for GT5 that you had just put on there.
8. Press triangle and then copy it onto the PS3.

You can use this method to duplicate cars/paints/tickets/test drives/cycle birthday and level tickets/ect.

That should answer the OP

Thanks to all for the info. After I posted I tried saving after exiting the game and I found the back up an saved files and figured it out myself. Next time I will exhaust all other avenues before opening a thread with a stupid question!

What did you mean by duping all the tickets. Paints cars and such? I thought you had to have an alternate PS account to send things back and forth to like that?

Yeah no problem.

What I meant by duplicating is when you are saying going to send me a car but you still want to have it you do what I said above all steps in order and you will not lose the item/items you send.

The other account is for duplicating to yourself. Which all you do there is do the steps above but the only thing you are going to do different is replace step 5 with send the item instead of buy and try the car

So, basically if I want to send a car to a friend, I:
-Save my game to the USB
-Send the car out
-Then, reload the saved game from my USB.
Does that sound about right? None of my friends play GT5 so I have never added anyone or sent anything. Are the guys over at the trading/gifting forum good for a car or 2 you think?

Yep that's how you do it

Mods, should we close this thread since my original question has been answered, or leave it active?
