game unresponsive at shuffle races?

for some reason, lately both mine and my brother's ps3 are becomming unresponsive during online shuffle races. It happens right when a race ends and goes to the results page. the game will either freeze on the results page or in the lobby, doesn't seem to matter.

I've only noticed it since the 1.05 update. anyone else experienced this and have any tips?
