Gameshark with no manual

I just got a gameshark for my ps2. This is the first time i have ever even touched one of these things. I got it from a friend and i cant figure out how to activate a deactivate codes. He cant rember either. I need some help on this totally foreign thing. I cant find anything on the net either. I have tried evry button on my controller and i cant get that star to appear or disappear for me.

So what version gameshark do you have? It should say version 2, 3 or 4. You didn't look on the internet very hard at all, as GameShark has a website with codes for just about any game. I'm at a loss about your description of the star thing.

Version 2, and im not looking for codes either. Im trying to figure out how to activate them and deactivate them. When you one is active it has a star on the left of it, no star not active. Thats what i cant figure out how to do.

Push to the right and scroll down to the code you want to highlight it and press triangle to turn it on or off.

Im just going to stomp this thing, everytime i push triangle it just takes me back a screen. Or any other button for that matter. Thanks though.
