Hi,

I got my first samples of the GT4 Cockpit I am thinking of importing. It is awesome. I was finding that the products available out there are very expensive and couldn't decide on what cockpit setup to replace my ironing board. While on my last trip to China I ran accross someone who had a great design and told him to send me a couple of samples. Mine is very similar to the official GT4 Sparco version which retails for $580. However, I'm planning a retail of $400. Let me know what you all think. My design has room for a keyboard and mouse along with a spot to place your flatscreen monitor if you want to make it a dedicated setup for your PC. Pedals are adjustable along with the seat. Overall construction is excellent and the seat is similar to the Sparco Evo. You can actually sepearate the seat end from the rest of the unit when not in use and it turns into a nice chair from your living room.

I'm not yet 100% sure if I am going to import it. You all will really help me in making the decision. I am summer track rat (run a MINI Cooper S) and am not looking to make huge profits just some extra money to help fund my winter track car project (a '95 M3). The MINI takes a lot of abuse and it's time I got something dedicated for the race track.

I will have full product shots within the next week with the Driving Force Pro installed. Below is a quick assembled pic I took. Thank god I now have a Winter Track Car, hopefully you will too!

cheers

Amit

Hi,

I got my first samples of the GT4 Cockpit I am thinking of importing...

Amit,

Very nice design! You seem to have worked out the design quite thoroughly! 👍
I have a few questions, if you don't mind???

1. Is the wheel plate/mounting area adjustable?
Meaning, if you hookup a DFP, how much 'tilt' would the user be able to do?
Here's an example of what I'm referring to, in case you need clarification:

Straight:

Tilted:

2. Can the pedal base itself be moved forward/backward or is it in a non-moveable position?
NOTE: It would seem from the picture above that there is some 'up/down' movement available, to adjust the angle of the pedals....which is always a good thing! :D

3. How much weight can the monitor stand hold? Would it be able to hold a small TV and if so, how big of a TV? 30pounds, 60 pounds?

4. Have you thought of allowing for the end-user to 'add-on' additional products by chance? Say a Frex or D.I.Y. sequential shifter or maybe speaker stands for providing the added 'surround sound' effect while racing? Something like this for example:

Thanks for the feedback when time permits and again...Great product/design! 👍

The steering angle can be adjustable for tilt. There are four possible heights about 25 degrees of total adjustment.

The pedals are also adjustable for tilts at 3 different heights. I'd say about 30 degrees of adjustment. The pedals are not movable in terms of forward backward. More a fixed car type position.

The monitor stand can handle about 30lbs of weight. I think the optimal setup would be some sort of LCD screen. To give you an idea in my pic above is my 23" Apple Cinema Display. You could easier go heavier than that.

I did not put any support mounts for surround speakers. It is a great idea but I figured that if someone wanted to keep the seat seperated when not in use it would look a lot cleaner.

let me know if you have other questions. What do you think of the price point? are the pictures of the cockpit that you have yours? Seems very nice. How much is that unit?

cheers

Amit

Amit,

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions! 👍 Much appreciate it!

In reviewing similiar designs offered by other companies, such as:

Sparco GT cockpit Priced at roughly $550 w/out TV/Monitor Stand

GamePod GT1 Priced at roughly $975

Gamers Cockpit Priced at roughly $890

Racemore AB simulator Priced roughly at $895 w/seat

I would say that your pricing is pretty damn competitive and if marketed heavily to both consoler & PC users, you should do extremely well...even if that price of $400 is Canadian...which would translate to about $340 US dollars (Roughly).

I've got a few other questions, as indicated in the pic below, so when you have some free time, feel free to provide the answers.

Thx-

PS: The pics I posted are of my Race Frame Pro from BallRacing Development out of the UK and purchased from their US distributor, Trinity Racing and the price was just shy of $1k including the seat.
