Man, I wish PD would hurry up and get Fuji on the Sophy list. Just tried to do a regular AI custom race there and went from last to 2nd in 9 laps, then on the last lap the lead car over cooked T3 and slowed so much I wasn't expecting it and I hit them and took us both out. Lost count of how many cars I clipped because they braked too early or for no reason.

Used the same exact settings at Red Bull Ring but with Sophy, and was fighting in the mid teens all race. When you are used to doing races with Sophy, the regular AI is SOOOO BAD.

Just messing with you.
oh, all good :D

Just, fyi, the Supra seems to suffer in that group. Not sure why. It seems to suffer in general at equal PP so it needs a boost.

Ya, and the don't stop like the player car does. They go to full stop in almost no distance, which I assume is in place to avoid massive AI pile-ups. I find that Reggie is worse with slower cars. Like, I tried to enjoy a Suzuki Carry race or Honda One with Reggie and it's pointless.

Cheat and use them with Sophy and it is better, but it's still pretty obvious that Sophy doesn't race. None of them try to pass each other.

I don't understand why the cars that very obviously work with Sophy (The Suzuki Carry, Honda One, F3500B, etc., etc. ,etc.) haven't been given official support. It might get more people moving over before GT8 comes.

Indeed. My Carry races are 5 laps and I have to account for not always passing on the outside to keep it somewhat fun.

Reggie loves the higher the horsepower the better the performance programming. Standing starts help because all aids are on. I just use ABS and full power. Even when I use the highest PP car Reggie is still competitive… at certain circuits. Forget Daytona Road Course.

Next survey everyone need to type SOPHY at all courses.

like last Saturdays challenge was a gr.3 bop race at Autopolis for 10 laps using 700 pp tire and fuel rate, Sunday was use a F1500 a or b at grand valley for 9 laps up to 950 pp using gr.1 tire and fuel rate, yesterday was use a European RR car up to 650 pp for 10 laps at fuji, tomorrow would be use a Japanese 4WD up to 550 pp for 10 laps at Tokyo central using clubman cup plus tire and fuel rate.

Hi PS4 player here,I have over 100hrs of custom races almost all with custom grids and I think I found a interesting behaviour with Reggie.
I think Reggie as better pace, racing lines and racecraft with race cars equipped with racing tires versus a tuned road car that imitates a racing car.
The easiest way to see this is turn 1 at brands hatch with a road car tuned or stock Reggie always loses time but with a race car that comes stock with at least racing hard the behaviour changes .
I don't have unlimited time to test every single situation but on my casual custom races every time I choose race cars instead of road ones the race is always better .
If anyone is willing to try, maybe I'm wrong but I stopped to race gr.a custom grids because of this and it can't be only in my head.

You're correct. Reggie is absolutely better with a pure race car than with a street car, but in many cases, you can set the street car to mimic race car performance. A great example are the DTM cars (Mercedes EVO, BMW M3 Evo). Also, cars like the F40 can be set up to be essentially like the race cars. Also, the dedicated track cars (Pagani, McLaren p1, etc) can be set up like a GR3 car.

Unfortunately, this is not true for all cars.

The other important element is to make the cars unbalanced against you and the other cars. A little bit of imbalance will allow Reggie to "race" one another and you.

This is true. “Gr.” cars seem to have different Reggy programming that allows them fuller use of track width. You can take advantage of this to somewhat improve multi-class handling: I ended up building my IMSA GS/TCR grid using Gr.4 for the faster and ‘tuned road cars’ for the slower of the two classes. Reggy still gonna Reggy, but this weighted the “will it get stuck behind backmarker” coinflip in my favor.

last nights daily challenge was use a Japanese 4wd road car with a 700 pp limit using up to sport soft tires for 7 laps at spa
tonight is use a European MR road car with a 700 pp limit for 8 laps at the glen.
i dont use tire restrictions on non rain courses, will use up to sport soft on courses with rain is a possibility except for racing cars.

Watching a bunch of Civic and Integra One Make races. Been doing replica races early in the game, but looking to be a bit more accurate with the liveries. Can't do it with the DC2, but the Type Rs are fantastic with racing exhaust, slammed suspensions and RH. Love them both.

Out of curiosity after seeing previous entries by @05XR8 I've just built my own mid' 90s ADAC GT Cup series with Sophy opponents and I'm just fine tuning and quick testing the different PP levels to ensure tight balanced driving.

I wanted it to be a level PP below my DTM '90s legends grid so this one currently sits between 580PP and 605PP with all cars using Sport tires).

It's a blast from the past! (definitely my favorite decade of motorsports :D).

After "spectating" some races to balance a couple of models against the rest fo the grid, I've only test-driven myself a couple of models so far (the E36 and the 964). Everything's looking good, although I might have to lower the PP level for the car I drive as I didn't expect to be able to climb through the leaderboard this fast against Sophy (I'm an average CS driver). From what I've read here, Brands Hatch is supposed to be a good fit for close battles with Sophy, so I'll do the fine-tuning of the grid here and then try other european circuits.

P.S. And I'll start applying @Cat Power idea for qualifying lap!

How does the Integra fare against other drivetrains w/ Sophy?

With Reggie, and Bopping for human use, FF's are always a nightmare to get right because they just have to get way more advantage on hp/kg to counter the lackluster turning

I've actually based its settings in one of Praiano's 600PP tunings, with a swapped engine. Currently set to 411 PS (405 BHP). At 2,8 Kg/PS, is certainly having an advantage against the rest of the grid in weight/power ratio, alongside the 180SX. Still limited testing and have not driven those two myself, but so far the Integra seems to hold its own in the hands of Sophy

Did a 10 lap Sophy GT World Challenge race at Suzuka just now. Started 6th and barely managed to get to the lead two cars by the last lap. Did the whole thing in offset cockpit view and it was amazing. Might do a 1 hour race on Sunday with the same settings but start a little further back and try to force a pit stop for everyone.
