Whats my grades got to do with anything?

Read my above post.

Thats the whole idea, id rather get a job ahead of some dumbass with my grades, i couldnt think of anything worse than being rejected because some dude got higher grades, why settle for little when you can have more.

Mate correct me if im wrong but you got C's and D's.

Basically alot of people got higher grades than you.

G.T
True, but you study really hard to get good results for several subjects and your just going to do I.T, it's a waste of time then isn't it?
Well, of course I'll be doing English as well, because that's quite important for everyday life, and I'll be doing Maths and Science too because I have a natural interest for them. I don't see the need to learn anything else unless I wanted to.

So what are you ****ing saying? are you ****ing calling me dumb?

No your the jackass. Open your eyes and smell the coffee. GCSE dont mean anything much.

It's important to try, and to aim for good grades. It's not all about what job you can get with them. It's about proving your understanding of the subject. An electronics company would much rather employ someone who got a B in their GCSEs than someone who got a D, because the B grader will know more and have a much much better understanding of electronics than the guy with a D. I think you're just a little jealous that a lot of the people in here who do care about their results are much smarter than you.

A decent GCSE certificate is well worth trying for because it's proof that you have a thorough understanding of that subject and gives you something to be proud of. It's just putting your knowledge to the test.

Seeing as you still dont get what im saying I might just have to.
You said that the whole point of the gcses is so that someone dumber than you doesnt get a job ahead of you even though your smarter.

But with C's and D's many many people would get a job over you. Hell I got all C's and now im not exactly going to be top of the list when im trying to get my apprenticeship as there are thousands of people all hustling for a place.

dude, if all you're in here for is to lower people's spirits after they try their hardest all year spending hours on coursework and many more hours on revision. Then you may as well just get the hell out of this thread because you're not doing anybody any good.

Yeah wake up and smell the light because guess what, C and D grades arent the lowest, there are people with lower grades than me. :dopey:

would you beleive it. There was you making me think that lots of Cs and a few Ds was the worst anyone could do :dunce:

Im on track to do what I want with my life so why am I jealous that people got better grades than me. I congratulate them. School just never was my thing and I was clever enough not to believe in all the hype my school ravved about saying that if you get D's that basically your life confined to living ina burger bar.

Listen to famine he is a tax paying man who has more experience in the real world than any of us and hes told you like I was saying that gcses are pretty much useless. Read your newspapers for the past four years they have been saying that gcses are useless and that they need reforming. You guys are being to naive in believing that gcses mean the world.

Also because you got good gcses doesnt exactly calculate your IQ. There are countless amounts of people with good GCSES but in general everyday life they are clumsy slow and quite dim witted. Your basically repeating stuff out of textbooks and not broad general knowledge which american tests actually seem to be one. Infact in your science tests there are certain questions in which the answer you give they will mark as correct but are actaully wrong not technically correct but is considered too technical to teach children.

I dont get it. Why would you want to carry on with your sugar coated life instead of learning about how things really work.

Maybe its because I didnt spend hours on my coursework and didnt study. Hell im sure most people didnt study. I studied for my 11 plus which I passed I studied for my SATs which I got level 6 across the board but after having done countless of pointless of tests I just lost all urge and desire to study as I learnt that when it comes to the things in secondary school many things like famine said are exaggerrated and lies.

I always thought yeah gcses are important and when I do them I will study weeks before hand. Then the time arrived to revise and well....... I couldnt be bothered as either way I knew enough to suffice me and enough to know that maybe getting one grade better by revising isnt going to really affect me at all.

P.S my sister got all A's and A*'s for gcses and just got all A's for A-levels. She now wished that she had a it more fun during the run up to her gcses instead of busting her ass since day one. She helped to teach me that in the workforce gcses arent not regarded highly at all and prefer practical skills. A future employer much rather have a employee with a succesful relevant work experience than a bunch of B grades and no experience.

If I had a E in one of my gcses I wouldnt even put that down on my curriculm vitae.
Generally I see A-C as pass and the rest as something to make the person not feel completely useless. Employers dont look for anything less than a C so a D and E might aswell be a fail.

You guys are being to naive in believing that gcses mean the world.

so when did i say they mean the world? i said they mean a lot to me because i worked hard, you wouldnt beleive how many people didnt think i would even get Cs and yet i did so dont you ****ing patronise me as to what you think im thinking.

And yeah, famine has more experiance of the real world, but so what, it gonna happen to all of us.

Maybe GCSE's dont mean much but i dont care i worked hard to get them and im gonna be ahppy with myself for doing them, wether its gonna help me or not i dont care.

First off i dont care what your sister got, secondly it was her own fault for doing that, no-one forced her to it was her choice, tough luck really.

If people dont know how to have fun and do enough studying to do well then thats their own problem.

You missed the whole point of that paragraph.

The discussion is about how GCSES are not valued. That paragraph backed up my argument. You get a D for english GCSE's by doing that.

Then what are you arguing about. All that was said is that its not gcses are not valued in the outside world. Whats it got to do with you being proud about them.

P.S I dont care about how many people didnt even think you would get GCSE's just like how you wouldnt care that I just about made it through school and was exclued for 6 weeks in my run up to taking my gcses.

I DONT CARE! when will you understand that.

I Am happy with MY results, your opinion is not "valued" by me. i worked hard to get the grades, i know i can manage to do each subject, Cs and Ds is average and im happy with that, and i honestly couldnt give a **** what you think and what anyone else thinks about GCSE's, ok they arent valued by employers i can accept that, but as for the rest i dont care, im happy with my grades i feel i worked hard for them and got the results i wanted.

GT_Fan2005

You have just contradicted yourself with that sentence.

97.x% of kids in the UK get A-C grades. A D for a gcses is not average.

young warrior u tit so ur saying dont revise and study but go out and have fun then wen the time comes 2 pick up ur results and u get s**t results dont worry cus in a world where every job interview or postion applyed @ a a level course etc doesnt ask for @ least minum c in maths and english. stop living a ur s***y little world. wen u apply for a job and someone who tried hard @ gcses and got a better grade and therefore are better than u ( mostly cus ur a tit with a small mind and cant reliase that wat u get in your gsces basically decide on how your life turns out ) i will b laughing @ you.

i however tried so now i got mostly B's with like 3 c 's so i have more a chance getting by leading a great life than u. go start a job as a road sweeper u tit.

love from a clever guy who tried and now in every postion u apply for i could easly beat u and get the job ... you no excalty how to create a ****ing good life for ur self dont you ......... tit.

Clearly you're one of those "dim witted" folk. So i'll say it again. This thread is for people awaiting their exam results and for people who have alread yrecieved them which im sure many have. It's for us to discuss how well we did and how excited we are/were. I would've named it "GCSE mocking thread" if I wanted people to come in and try to make people feel bad about themselves. Just go away, noone wants to hear your moaning, just stop replying in this thread unless you have something constructive and friendly to say you jackass.

Congrats on your results,
I still havent found out yet. I payed £1 to have them posted to me but the postman STILL hasnt come yet. They should come today because my friend payed ot have them delivered too and she got them today. I can't wait to find out but the longer it takes, the more the excitement wastes away...

I'm going on to start a motor vehicle maintenance apprenticeship course that will consume the next 2 years of my life but it may take a little less dpeending on how hard I work. I'm going to be working 4 days a week at a small BMW parts and servicing garage on £60 - £70 a month :D. The guy was really impressed with my predicted B/A in electronics so it goes to show those jackasses that GCSE's can make a difference.

I'll be on 700 a month for my first year apprenticeship :sly:

Yelk all im saying is that if your going to do A-levels which is a full time commitment then gcses dont matter just make sure you do well in your A-levels. Either way even if you have good gcses what kind of jobs would you apply for? Burger king top shop etc. ont need gcses to work there but with gcses thats one of the few jobs you will be able to get.

You do realise what you've just done, don't you?

You've just demonstrated to the entire world (of Gran Turismo) that a C-grade GCSE in English Language isn't worth the paper it's written on.

It shows that just because you have B's in gcses it doesnt mean anyhting as I cant even have a constructive discussion with these "young adults" without them taking it personal and turning to name calling.

Its like they refuse to acknowledge that life isnt all nice and dandy.

how come you're getting payed £700 in your FIRST year of your apprenticeship? what are you doing?

I'm willing to talk about that kind of thing but can we stop with all the GCSE mocking, we're proud of our results and thats that. It doesnt matter anymore if thats all your going to talk about.

Modern apprenticeship for plumbing. Electrician and maintenance apprentice get around the same amount aswell. 1 day in college 4 days working from 8 to 4.

i only got a D for graphics which i expected because my teacher was a joke and that one grade is what i needed to go on a design course at college...

YES! OMFG IM SO HAPPY!!!! I JUST GOT MY RESULTS!!!

Science: Double C C
Art and Design C
Electronics A!!!
English Lang. C
English Lit. C
Maths C
RS E

I was expecting an F in RS so that didnt really get me down but the others are exactly what i wanted and even more. I thought id get a D in science and maths and a B in electronics. lol im so happy right now.

My school is a church school (yes, I know...). Amusingly, our results showed that the best two subjects, by raw GCSEs and percentage of entrants were:

Science
Information Technology

The worst two subjects, similarly, were:

Health & Social Care
Religious Studies

Oh, how I laughed.
