Hey guys,

My name is Greg, though you may guess, I get called 'stump' most of the time.
Something to do being height deficient I think. :dopey:
I've been playing/driving GT ever since the original first landed down here. Got it in a bundle pack with my first Playstation. (which I still have :odd: ) Still not a great driver, which is mostly the reason I shy away from online events....don't wish to look too foolish, or tick anyone off with bad driving ethics. But I have loads of fun, and that rates pretty high on my list.
(believe it or not, I still struggle along with the standard DS3 controller... )

Been a member here for a while, but went Premium the other day via the great offer by Jordan to help out a great cause. 👍

Hope to be able to contribute at some point along the way guys. :)

Welcome to GT Planet. :gtpflag:

As for the online racing, at first I joined clean 'shuffle' rooms to practice my collision avoidance schemes. Just give others room on the inside if your slower and stick to a fair line. Always apologize if you hit someone and let them pass if you gain an advantage from an illegal move.

Check the online racing series here and you might find one for you. The F.I.T.T. guys run tuning events that require drivers to test tunes if you are interested in doing that. The photo competitions are a lot of fun. The drift guys and gals like to prove there skill. Drag racing here is good too. You can even pick up a trade or two.

Enjoy the Planet. Happy New Year to you and everyone else, from me in Melbourne, Australia.

welcome mate, online physic's are still somewhat different to offline physic's, so I understand your reservation's on joining leagues, I got used to the online physic's by joining dirty NASCAR and leader take out rooms, as rubbing and crashing is the aim of it,
this way you can get slammed and usually work with someone to get back to the front of the field, also this helps you increase your reaction time in accident avoidance, it can be an absolute blast and after a few hours of doing you can almost convert these skills into clean circuit racing,

Happy New Year guys. ;) And thanks for the warm welcome. 👍

Milldrum and TDZdave, guys, that's some great advice which I will take onboard. (figuratively speaking :) )
I shall get my kit together and have a look around a bit more positively and may find you guys hanging out somewhere, sometime. :sly:

Hey, welcome to :gtplanet:  and have a very happy new year as well, mate. 👍

Hi there!

:odd: I'm not entirely sure anyone else has ever been worried about causing a crash to the point of not joining a league with Dave. Dave, as it turns out, is the worst of the worst. :p He'll take you out in Turn 1 at Indy Oval.

You don't have much to worry about.

Anyways, if you'd like to have a soft entry into online racing, I recommend coming with "us" (the guys from World Motorsports Association) as we test cars online for our International Touring Car Championship. Problem is, these might be awkward hours for you, in Australia.

But, if you can make those hours, we'd love to have your help with our testing; it's a great way to meet people who want to race clean and hard, with an emphasis on fun. And, as an added bonus, you don't have to be thrown right into a first lap crash, since you'll get your feet wet before ever being in an official race.

But, if that's not your thing, I've got some tips (here) that you could read.

ITCC was approx 5AM Sunday morning for us south Ausgreatian's, which got difficult at times due to work or play for me, but it was well worth the effort, and with the tweaks being made for season 2 it will be much better,

The worst of it all is there really isn't much that gets a good field in our time slots, usually because of the awkward hours of international time zones and what breaches into our time zones is either to late or to early for the majority of that section in the world so the knock on affects means fields are poor, BUT, if you don't mind going out of your usual hours there are some great series,

Welcome mate!! :)
Cheers mate. :)
Thanks Andrew and Dave. 👍
Some good reading at that link you provided Andrew, great stuff actually, thanks. :)
Time zones are often the biggest hurdle to get over I guess.....I reckon everyone should race on AEST.

You're welcome. :) I'm glad you liked it. I'm still trying to finish it, but, time's a hurdle now. (See below)

I work afternoon shifts. My usual hours actually sorta do fit with Aussie time zones.

That's kool that you can manage to coincide with our hours of play. :)
Me, I keep some very unusual hours.....especially when on holiday.
This passed week has seen a few nights/mornings collide and had very little actual sleep time. :boggled: I'll catch up and regain rhythm when work starts in another week and a half. :)
Then I'm back to 4am rising, in bed by 9pm AEST. :indiff:

Welcome to GTPlanet Greg!

Good to hear you've stayed with the GT series since the beginning. As many others have suggested, check out the online racing leagues for fun, clean racing. Alternatively, have a look at the Weekly Race Series, which you might find helpful to sharpen your skills. :)

Welcome aboard Greg 👍

I'm always happy to help throw out a few pointers also and do know quite a few Aussies around in the league business, so if you were interested in getting started just flick me a PM 👍
