Was looking at the Mazda RX-8 website and saw the gear ratios in the Technical specifications. So it dawned on me to see if they were the same in gt5.
No They Weren't.
I installed the customisable transmission, kept the max speed the same as standard, then adjusted each gear ratio the same as what was on the Mazda RX-8 website.
So I did six laps time trial of Rome with standard transmission. Then six laps with the new gear ratios. With the new gear ratio settings I was 7 tenths of a second quicker per lap. That's quite a difference.
Making me now feel I need to find official gear ratio settings for all my favourite cars. (For the ones I like to keep as stock anyways.

Yes, i love this idea, i have been wanting gear ratios, for cars such as the fxx(enzo), and the cars from the gt1 series. Also the correct ratios for the super gt cars. But alas ive had no luck.

Keep in mind with the all different versions of cars, the ratio might be right. Not saying you're wrong, just trying to help you make sure you didn't overlook anything.

Polyphony Digital got many gear ratios wrong...

Well, with costumizable ratios in a race car u cannot get it wrong, u alter it for every track differently. I dont really understand this thread because when it is changeable u cannot go wrong...also look at the graphs and the gameplay, so forget about the ratios anyway, thats why u can buy the better gearbox...

I did the same with my 97 Z28 (I use it as an analogue for my personal Formula Firebird). MUCH more realistic. It absolutely feels like my car now. Fifth lets me take it up to 155 or so (with enough room) and sixth is just kind of there. My car had among the rarest factory rear gear ratios of 3.54 so I made sure to adjust that too.

Great idea, only for stock production cars though. How on earth can PD get this wrong! Mind you, they got they tyres wrong for some cars too, sometimes that have too much grip, or not enough, compared to their real life counterparts.
