This may seem like a complete noob question but how do we change the gear ratios? I've upgraded to a 5 speed gear box and I go to change the gear ratio but it wont let me, the arrow just stays on that message box, I've updated the engine as well. Any help? Thanks

go to garage, choose yr car, when hovering with cursor above it, press triangle.
You'll see the options for that car, go to tuning.
Changing gear ratios is only allowed/ possible on fully upgraded transmissions.
go to that one and click on the circular little button.
In there you can. :)

Like he said, you'll need a Fully Customizable Transmission.

However, I'm not sure if it's unlocked at a later stage or you simply can't modify gear ratios on some cars. I can only modify the top speed on my 458 Italia.

As above, you can no longer adjust the ratios seperately as in previous games, you only get a max speed slider that will adjust the ratios

I'm pretty sure later on you can, as the controls are there for it (but disabled), and for highly strung racing cars it's often best to leave gears 1-3 where they are (so you know what you can do with them) and adjust your top speed in gears 4 - 7. This is probably one of those things like damage that comes with time.

I guess we'll see in time, but currently there are people at levels way over 20 that report the same thing

There is definetly a way to tune them at one point, because if you press the yellow info button it says beginners should only tune the top speed. Then it talks about how you could adjust each gear.

*bump* Any updates on this ?, would like to know if the option to edit each gears ratio is possible...later on in the game ?

People at Lvl 28 are reporting the same, so if it does unlock at a later Lvl (which I am not convinced it does), its one higher than 28!!!

Fully Customizable Transmission is different than 5 speeds with short gear ratio .

You cant change the gears ratio on the second option. I didn't try yet to see if we can do something with the ratio of the rear axle (or diff).
