thanks shack.

here's the official press release

http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_12687.html

And a little comment by JC himself.

“As DOOM 3 development winds to a close, my work has turned to development of the next generation rendering technology. The NV40 is my platform of choice due to its support of very long fragment programs, generalized floating point blending and filtering, and the extremely high performance,” said John Carmack, president and technical director of id Software

At an event they were showing off Unreal 3

my ****ing god. O_O

In a lot of test's the 9800XT is only 1 point behind the 6800. ATi is King Dong.

On a side note, here is Asus' version of the 6800 -

The 6800 Standard or Ultra?

The GeForce 6800 is the absolute speed king. In the benchmarks at Tom's Hardware, the 6800 leads every single benchmark test besides two. A majority of them leading by more than 50%, leaving the 9800XT in the dust.

The Ultra version was used in the tests. I'm sure the standard version can beat anything ATI has out now as well.

Here is an example of one of the benchmarks. Using the MP_Brecourt map, 4X AA, 8X AS, 1024x768, maximum quality in Call of Duty.

Stats from [H]ardlOCP - ATi cards have never been good in low resolution tests, and Call Of Duty caters to nVIDIA.

Yep - In lower resolutions in current games they do about the same.

But, if I could, I would play in higher resolutions. And that's where the 6800 blows the snot out of the 9800XT.

Not to mention that upcoming games are going to need certaint futures and the power this new card has, and that the 9800XT will do poorly on.

Yeah but if you're gonna buy the card, you gotta buy the Ultra...

I wouldn't trust any benchmarks or take then into consideration until the retail drivers come out. The ones they are using now are just for show.

The difference between beta drivers and WHQL drivers are minimal. Most of the time, they are exactly the same, besides for the WHQL approval.

If you look at the pictures from far cry though, the xt's seem to be a lot better in quality.

Want speed - go nVidia. Want pretty pictures - go ATi.

ATi's catalyst drivers generally have better anti-aliasing engines, but nVidia's Detonators perform faster.

As it would turn out those are fake and based soly on speculation.

Don' trust them.

Wait a little while, you'll start seeing some real ones.

You're right, they are speculated numbers. Speculation or not, I'm confident that the X-series will put up some mean numbers.

Either way, my new X800XT sitting under a water-block will be very fast. :D

Toms Hardware leak...

Crap in a box, label it 'teh rocz0rz box0rz' and he'll say it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Wait for reviews from places like hardop, etc.

The point is, get ready to see Nvidia get their ass beat down.
Have you seen the technical specs on both cards?

It's almost impossible the X800 could beat the 6800, just because how they are built.

Besides, the X800 is only supposed to hold ATI fans until the end of the year when the new, good card comes out.

I think you mean to say the even more DOMINANT 880.

Let's not forget, Nvidia is also going to be releasing a new top of the line card in the fourth quater dubbed the 6800 Ultra-Extreme. It will again make an attempt to take the crown from what will be the DOMINANT player. . .

. . the X880 XT-Platinum.

The puppy in your avatar has the same expression that Nvidia fans had on their faces when they seen the specs on the Radeon X800 series. Muhahaha
