OK, i just got this game, ya just, and wow it's amazing! I've been reading through the forums and found some good info. However, I have some very basic questions that i can't find info on. Hoping you guys can help me out. First off, i know nothing about cars really, well after going through the forums i realized how little i know.
in no particular order...
-some cars do not give you the option to add turbo? i have the TVR Griffith 500 (i think, the 2nd car i purchased) and it does not give me this option
-when racing with this car, in the professional events, in the long straight aways, ill be at 140-150mph and cars will be passing me, fairly easy??
-this car is brutal at cornering, what will fix this the best, or a combination of things? (dont need details, just basic, tires, driveterrain?)
-what is the best race to build up credits when starting out the game?
-are 4cylinder cars max mph 135ish? is there any way to improve this?
-what improvment gives you more mph? everything is hp?
-the 1st car i purchased was a Honda prelude, is this car crap or is it just me?
-when buying cars, the hp is different on the front page then when you go to buy it? why the difference

anyway, i know these are crappy questions, but i have never played this game and now i cant turn it off!! so i need to know!!!

:)

thx

-some cars do not give you the option to add turbo? i have the TVR Griffith 500 (i think, the 2nd car i purchased) and it does not give me this option

-it could be because it's not common to add turbocharger into TVR's in first place. they're the icons of normally aspirated sportscars, thus ,they're mostly kept that way.

-when racing with this car, in the professional events, in the long straight aways, ill be at 140-150mph and cars will be passing me, fairly easy??

- The AI slipstreams in your wake, gaining speed. that's also why they ram into your rear when you start braking for corner. it could also be that they have far more power than you do.

-this car is brutal at cornering, what will fix this the best, or a combination of things? (dont need details, just basic, tires, driveterrain?)

-Suspension, weight reduction, tires, downforce, drivetrain modifications ( especially LSD); all these have effect on the handling.

-what is the best race to build up credits when starting out the game?

- Something cheap, light and RWD, like Trueno or such. they're good basic cars that help you to learn the small trics of driving.

-are 4cylinder cars max mph 135ish? is there any way to improve this?

-I've reached 260mph in dodge SRT-4. it was fully modified, producing over 500bhp.

-what improvement gives you more mph? everything is hp?

- Most of them are. Fully adjustable racing gearbox helps a lot too.

-the 1st car i purchased was a Honda prelude, is this car crap or is it just me?

-If you're skillful driver, there's no such thing as crappy car. since you just recently got the game, i'd say that you need bit more practice.

-when buying cars, the hp is different on the front page then when you go to buy it? why the difference?

- well, there's few theories about it. the bigger number is often thought to be flywheel hp and the smaller hp at the wheels.

I hope this helps.

1. Yes, some cars are naturally aspirated, you can add NA tuning to them
2. Buy customisable gearbox and switch "autoset" value to higher level
3. Don't be brutal, buy Sport Soft tyres, they will be more grippy, but they will wear up quickly, also try Racing tyres, suspension tunning
4. Your TVR will easily win Costa di Amalfi (easy) in Special Conditions. After winning it sell Toyota, do it again, etc
5. See point 2.
6. Engine and transmission tuning
7. Every car is good, it depends how good you are :)
8. ^-Leonidae
Sorry for my English.

Another good race to do to earn some creds is the Tsukuba Circuit (wet) under "special conditions. youll get a Mazda that sells for about 95,000 plus the 10,000 you get for completing the race. You can accomplish this race in a Lotus Elise 111R and earn about 200 A-spec points too!

(ps - how much does that previously mentioned Toyota go for??)

well under 10k. Under 6 K usually. 6.2 milers are more expensive since they're practically new ones.

that Toyota sold for $295,000! well i had a bunch of fun with that. now i'm broke again :grumpy: i bought a dodge viper and suped it up, but i dont like it that much. my favorite car is the MITSUBISHI Lancer Evolution III GSR ('95), i think the 4WD is what i like because i cant drive very well yet, and that helps :)

again, what an amazingly addictive game.

you can always do the race again and win that pricecar too. just clear the race event before racing again.

When entering a (won) single race, it has a message and says if you want to clear the races and win them again, but the prize car will not be given to you if you don't clear them. The car you won the previous time will remain. I think this message pop ups when pressing X at the helmet in order to enter the race.

If you really want to practice on your driving skills, before you go into tuning and stuff, you should go to the liscence tests. Try and get some golds with help of the demonstration videos.
It will seem difficult at first, and I won't say it's easy, but it's possible to pull off;)

At least, whether or not you can actually get the golds, you wíll have learned a bit more on how to race in GT4. It's easy really.
Because I think you should first brush up your driving skills before you start tuning a car.

the first thing i did when i put the game in is go to the license area (seemed to make sense, you need a license before you drive :)) and easy it was not! my god, i dont have enough patience to consider trying for gold. after i got through the b license i was hoping i could play the rest of the game without having to do any more testing. and i was very happy to find out you can. but it was so slow making enough to upgrade cars with the limit on the races you can enter without anything higher than a b license. when szymoniec suggested the Costa di Amalfi course (thanks!), i needed my a license. somehow i got it?? as i play, im sure there will be more licenses to get if i want to advance. the hardest thing i find is the cornering in the game. not really going around the corners at a good speed, if you slow down enough you can do it, but i'm talking more about the angle the cars turn at, it just doesnt seem right. i have driven a honda prelude before and it can turn much sharper than the game dictates. and all the cars i have used so far seem to have poor turning angles or sharpness. anyway, still the best car game i have ever played by far.

I think you will find most, if not all, of the variations in numbers will disappear if you change the units to ps. The power values are stored as ps and need to be converted when they are displayed in other units - there are a number of places where PD forgot to include the coversion so the values are still showing the ps units but labeling them as hp, etc.

Well I won't say the Honda Prelude is represented perfectly in the game.
But maybe that is to blame to the sense of speed you feel when you enter a corner in RL, and in GT4. Maybe the theoratically same speeds, feel much faster in RL than in GT4. So maybe you're just pushing the Prelude way harder in the game than in real life without noticing it.

I'm not sure if you like a challenge, or if you like an arcade style game more.
GT4 goes far deeper than the usual NFS games you see normally. So that is why it might seem very appealing at first, but it means you might have to be more patient with this game than with others ;)
That's the question, hehe.

r u tuning the suspension at all? Buy full racing suspension and modify the settings before each race. The Prelude should be handle very well if tuned correctly with good tires.

Search for settings around here, you should be able to find plenty.

Hi people,

I'm a pretty bad driver :guilty: and I can't finish the Clio Trophy. Can someone please tell me what car and tuning parts I should get to beat the Clio Race Cars with ease.

Cheers
