The point I tried to make is that I know how to drift in real life, I know how to drift in gt3, and I know that drifting in gt4 dose not feel Natural, I have the GT4 Steering wheel, I spent about 30 mins trying to drift the falken d1 car, the hks s15 and the blitz r34, I took off traction control and ASM, but still everytime you start to slide it is almost impossible to recover, it dosent feel natural, come to cali and talk to the people who are in the drift scene and have been in it for years and ask the people who know what there doing how the game feels. this is my question I CANNOT READ JAPANESE, I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO ADJUST THE DRIVING DIFFICULTY'S ETC, SOMEONE SAID THERE IS AN ADVANCED STEERING MODE, CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN HOW TO TURN IT ON???

i already got use to the drifting in GT4, and i tried M3 that sportcarm was talkin bout. I got it, pure stock, turn off ASM TCS, got normal tire just incase.(cuz it comes with Mid Sports tire) and i tried drifting on Gymcarna. well, i guess thats how the car moves. i got use to it, so i went on Trial Mountain (my home course) and test drove it, hella easy to drift... dude wtf. I think even FD was harder to drift in this game. u juss need some practice man. if u want me to, i can record it on my dig camera and show you the drifting on trial mountain with stock M3.

okay, advanced steering wheel option is in Option menu. go down, and u will see the steering wheel pics. like 5 of em first one, its general option:

1P Power Assist:on/off
2P Power Assist:on/off
1p Strengh of Force Feed Back:weak/strong
2p Strengh of Force Feed Back:weak/strong

For steer type, whats the diffrence between amateur, pro and simulation ? does it make it harder to keep control or something ? Also what is power assist ?

damn.. hearing all this bad stuff about the PSP and about GT4 makes me want to pull all of my store credit out to buy some stogs so I can smoke and be depressed about my highest expectations gettings pwn3d.

Well I can advice you to stay calm but.........................I'VE BEEN THERE MAN, AND ALOT OF PEOPLE STILL ARE:yuck: sooo I can understand if your like going crazy:crazy:

And thanks alot 944 Drifter you gave others some good hope and some advice on making it easier, thanks:tup:

i'll see how drifting is in gt4 for myself in a few days... if it's not up to par, i won't be purchasing a DFP.. hopefully it isn't as bad as it seems from all the "testimonials" maybe it will be so different that the drifting community will split between gt3 and gt4 XDD

For all of you that are worried about drifting in GT4, check out This Thread

I think it'll put you mind at ease.

erm i disagree on the whole 'special' cars are easier to drift... i tried to drift the HKs S15, and fcking that **** was hard to drift, then i used a normal FD and got way better result :)

It may be hard to drift in this game because there is no active clutch...also if the car setup is not done properly, the car wont take a set properly and slide. u can even get a arce car 2 drift with super grippy tires.....just gotta know how.

on Steering Options, you are able to choose between amateur, pro, and simulation. but those are only used on GT Force. not GT Force Pro. sorry i didnt write it down. I think what they do it conter steer when you are about to spin out, i felt that feeling when i used em. (i have both GT force, and pro) Power assist is just like Power Steer. So when u are in High Speed, you will be able to keep control of your car. no need to put so much strengh.

Ill post my Miata`s Drift setting. but than I dunno if it helps you guys out. cuz car settings are all depends on how do you drive it u kno. everyone has different settings for drifting. depends on what kinda drift you want to do, and when do you break, when do you start gas. you kno? well, my style is more like fast drift. so i dunno if you guys like it or not. please dunn make such an awful comment bout my settings. This setting is for my style of drifting. thanx :)

Muffler(int/exaust): Racing
ROM(ECU):Sports

Suspension:Racing
Transmission:Full
Clutch:triple
Fly:racing
CarbProp:on
Driving Assist: ASM(over)-0 ASM(under)-16 TCScontroll-0

what settings do u use in ur steering options?

i have active steer on (no idea what it does)
power assist off

which one helps u drift better

Professional drivers seem to disdain power steering because it obscures the feeling of the front tires on the road as well as resists contorting to the bumps and gaps in the surface, sometimes resulting in understeer or other unwanted behaviour.

Never heard of Active Steer though.

And, 944drifter, you might consider reversing your spring rate and damper settings (front to rear), using harder tires, a smaller turbo with better response, and/or setting brake bias slightly towards the rear.

Any of those modifications to the settings will most likely improve your ability to drift the car.

It's still usefull for people who can't drift AT ALL and are COMPLETE OFF compared to your drift settings, but that'll be a small amount of people:indiff:

Where did you drift in GT3???

Check out some of the vids in this forum and in theGT3 drift forum, then come back with you questions. Ok? Thanks!

GT guy> I usually Drift on Trial Mountain. that spose to be my home course. And i dunn really need to toe the tire in. since i have my rear tire camber out side alittle. and i dont want my car to be sliding too long.
well, when im drfiting, i dont want my car to be shifting weights too much, i dont want loose spings. i feel more comfortable with stiff springs. second of all, i like griptire cuz i can do fast drift. when comming out of the corner with the slip tire, it takes while to get a grip from the counter, so i rather get a grip faster. (i like doing fast drift than show drift). and the turbo stage 3. yes, it might be kinda laggy, but than im using miata that only goes up to 324hp, super light weight, with grippy tire. i need stage 3, and I already got use to the lag. i mean pro drifters drift with kick turbine.
ill try to upload drifting video if i have time. thanx for the comments u guys.

Wow..that sucks... Well I was just wondering if you guys overlooked the fact that in real life w/a LSD when you let off the gas or somthing while sliding the cars immediate response is to jerk back the other way...Thats how I wrecked my old BMW :guilty: But I don't know if your cars have an LSD or not so you may understand what I'm talking about. Is the game trying to simulate that feeling? If so, then instead of jerking off the gas try smoothly letting off or just keeping it down...I don't have the game and I was looking forward to it until now :ouch: Like in my dad's first gen RX7, it doesn't have an LSD so when I take it through some twistys and get a little too fast the back can swing out, but its easily controlled. My car (yes, its fixed..i was lucky last time) will be really twitchy when sliding unless you keep the gas down like a powerslide...I'm guessing this is why LSD's are so good for real drifters, they can go from sliding completely sideways to the left and immediatly switch it back to the right for a sharp chicane by simply letting off the gas quickly. Would you still recomend the game for other reasons? 👍

MX-5 Miata S-Special Type-I ('95)
this was the miata i was driftin with. Ill post some more if i made some nice drift cars. im having trouble with mission races right now. not much time to do drifting. i want to finish this game first. im still at 52% damn mission race...

I'd just like to say that the physics of this game are rediculous, not even close to real life. I own a Nissan 300ZX and do a lot of drifting with it. Doing a power over is next to impossible in this game. The E-brake must lock up the front tires or something, cause you can't throw the rear end out with it. If you are driving a 400+hp RWD vehicle and you downshift and nail the throttle in a corner, the rear end is gonna slip out regardless of what kind of tires you have on the vehicle. I guess the tires on all these cars must be 15in wide or something.

Then why did you buy the game?
