The song that got me into electronica was BT-Never gonna come back down(which I first heard on the edge). I still love that song and I'm mostly a huge Trance fan(although I'm starting to like house).I discovered a Genre, which I don't know to classify it as just pop or as electronica but its pretty good sounding stuff. its called dance pop, in which is has lyrical structures of pop but at the same time, beats of house music.

Bastard! One more year before I can get into clubs...one more year. A few things on my "Things to do before I die" list are to see AVB, Tiesto, and PVD live.

Oh, what a lovely username. I should change mine to I_H8_OBL.

Can we just ban this guy? Like a preemptive strike on noobs.

who here besides me loves that song"Real Dream" by Deepsky?(which is on GT4)I wish I could get the song downloaded.

What? There is trance in GT4? When was this?

I got most of the music in GT4 turned off. I am even growing tired of the six songs I do have selected to play.

yep the songs are:
Etnica-Checkered Flag
Antidote-Bullet
Deepsky-Real Dream
those exact three are all trance.hopefully they could have some BT or paul oakenfold or hybrid in GT5.

i would truly hate to come across as a music snob and a jerk in general, especially when this is only my second post on this very fine board, but i'm going to go out on a limb (and the tree will be set aflame shortly) and say that GT4 has not only the worst soundtrack of all games ever made, but it is especially poor in the area of electronic music.

for years soundtracks for movies have been carefully put together, consisting of tracks that totally embody the spirit of the movie. scores are often commissioned, and much effort goes into creating and performing them.

video games are a relative new comer in this territory, and it's a unbelievable shame that music industry politics often destroys real soundtracks (check EA Games' garbage for this.) GT4's music is a joke, and so was GT1-GT3, in my honest opinion.

GT4 has a slap-handed random assortment of tracks to try to appeal to as many people as possible. there is no theme here.

do i hate the music? no, not really. dieselboy and nitro's tune is absolutely banging and perfect for this game. i also love jimmy eat world and less than jake dearly, but i don't think either of them belongs here! (they do, however, rock the THPS/THUG world.)

one game series that has had the best soundtrack has been the Wipeout series. futuristic racer, futuristic music, bang, bang, BANG! i don't know anyone who hears Underworld's "Tin There" and doesn't push a little harder on there throttle. the music was PERFECT.

rockstar games also has the right idea about soundtracks. from GTA to MC:3, they just nail it everytime.

now, as for electronic(a) music, i prefer it. i used to run my PS2 through a mixing board so i could play my favorite records (yes, vinyl) and cd's while racing (on tokyo extreme, etc., because GT3 wasn't out yet.) so am i biased? yes. yes, i am.

the assorted "trance" tracks hiddden in GT4 are bland and sickening, the mainstream songs by deepsky and crystal method are a joke. YES, i said it. they are jokes. go listen to "follow the leader" by calyx and "imagination VIP" by dom & roland on the MC:3 soundtrack. absolutely TEARIN'.

i'm not out to slash tires but i truly hope that in GT5 we either have great music or an ability to add our own music to the mix, because i want to hear sasha's "xpander" (all 13:00+ glorious minutes of it) when i race. not "hot rod honeymoon" by jeff buckley, not "panama" by van halen, and definately not the donna's singing about stalking some boy (WTF did this ever have to do with the game?)

thank you, good night, and god bless.

(for anyone who might like a little sip of REAL electronic music, please go to www.thinnerism.com. this is real techhouse, dub style electronic music, so if you like dj sammy, well, you just won't get it. it's all free, with no strings, no pop-up's, no garbage. really. check their links to get to other sites with the same agenda. this is the techno revolution. not that silly compilation from MEGAHITS MUSIC.)

(if anyone likes GT4 and basic channel, rhythm & sound, chain reaction, shoot me up with a PM. i don't know what for, but hey, we're not alone right?)

(kanye west: BIG UP! MASSIVE! thank you for saying it like it is!)

(anyone else: sorry. i'm 5th out and sloppy. ran the endurance races and got tip-tip-tip-tipSY)

good night.

I don't think PD has focused on soundtrack to match the theme, they just slapped in something that hopefully everyone will find what they like. rap doesn't belong in GT period(listen to any of them one good time and you'll know), however, I would have to disagree with you about van halen as its more of a classic that has that a 60s feel while your racing muscle cars(kinda like hell's angels 69 or something).
I also disagree with you on deepsky as they have some banging tunes. Now probably I'm just the only head thinking about it, but I think that it is totally up to you to choose the music you feel fits perfect and so the answer to the randomly selected tracks.(although I would expand with the trance selection seeing as it fits perfectly with racing)

I'm not going to bother with sub-genre names since I feel they're alot of times they're subjective, leading the reader to believe something other than the root intention. Anyone into these artist and their styles? Some of them aren't considered to be electronic, but I think that's because they're breaking such new grounds and have seperated themselves so far away from the mainstream electronic forms.
Plaid
Boards of Canada
Squarepusher (<3 Acid Jazz)
Kid Loco
Bonobo
Four Tet
TRS-80
Prefuse 73

Bringing it back to the more primative electronic/dance:
Daft Punk
Cut Copy

I'm all for Tiesto, but it's about time he got knocked from #1. IMO it should have been AVB, PVD and then Tiesto, followed by Ferry Corsten, Sasha, Digweed, and Carl Cox.

Giancarlo
Anyone have the new Fischerspooner album Odyssey?

If Emo took over Electronic music, this would be it. Sorry, Giancarlo, it's just not my style. Also, their "We Need a War" song really rubbed me the wrong way. Wars are not wanted, they are necessary, but that's a whole different discussion.

DI.com does indeed suck now. 96kbps streams just are not enough. Bless the soul who uploads the premium 192kbps stream for ASOT every week. :D Try etn.fm for some excellent 192kbps trance and progressive streams.

I was wondering does anyone have a liking to Drum and Bass? Its one of those sub genres no one seems to look it, but its pretty good.

Oohh... I love dnb. Give me a few hundred watts, a good subwoofer (or 2 :dopey: ), and some good dnb and I'll be one happy sumb!tch.
