Only go to the doctor if you get a severe fever, have dizzy spells, or have your throat so sore you can not swallow. These are all signs that it might be something more serious then just a cold.

Ya I tried a cold shower this morning, seems to be doing better

Well thanks for the replies guys. 👍

Joey D, I did used to take Vitamin C tablets nearly everyday but stopped taking it when I feel better and don't need it anymore. :) But yeah, my dad said the same thing. He asks me to eat fruits and stuff, but I hate fruits!!!! (well, not all fruits, but I really hate eating them. :grumpy:)

Giancarlo: Well, thats a good point. Maybe I'll do that right now! :D Weirdly enough, one of my teacher told me to take a cold bath in the middle of the night for a few days and I won't catch a cold again, is this really true!?

As for going to the doctor thing, I'm just going to the local clinic here to get a check up and take some medicines. It probably doesn't cost much, but at least its better to be safe than sorry..... :guilty: Currently, I have a mild cold and a sore throat, but if it gets serious tomorrow (when I start to develop phlegm and have the green stuff coming out) then I seriously need to see the doctor! This is not the first time I have it, but its almost a monthly occurrence for almost 10 years!!!! :guilty:

Water on burned skin is not the solution. Water vaporates, taking the moisture out of the skin, making the skin dry out. You need to make the skin greasy.

If vitamin C is the only thing you take, it will not make much of a difference. You need much more than only vitamin C to give your immune system a boost. Vitmans and minerals work together and in some cases work against each other. You need to get rid of the poison in your body and take antioxidants (vitamin C is one). Drink tea that will purify your body. Take probiotica to make sure that your intestant is healthy and that it can absorb all the good stuff from food and fluids.
Echinacea is also very good.

I use some Boots Aloe Vera after-sun. Works well, feels wonderful when I put it on.

Anyways, just wanted to ask. What is the best way to cure a cold? I had a cold yesterday and my nose always gets drippy. Tried eating clerenase, but still it doesn't work. If I don't feel better by tomorrow, I will go see the doctor (which I should have done earlier... :banghead:) So anyways, I just want to know what herbal remedies or whatever you usually do to stop your nose from running so next time I don't have to suffer and blow my nose every time and finish 2 boxes of tissues in an instant.....
As far as I understand colds are caused by a virus (Rhino Virus?) in which the only way to get rid of viruses is to let your body do it naturally. Although come medicine can be used to cover up the symptoms and stop the dripping for a little while.

Nasal spray works wonders for a blocked nose, the mucus disappears and the nice clears up. Just like new! But pay VERY close attention to their recommended time limit of using it.(Something like 7 days). Use it for too long and it can have the opposite effect and make your nose worse and have repercussions even after the cold is gone.:scared: But you really have to use it for a long time for that to happen.(A couple of weeks sounds a bit too long).

Cold, cold showers really help. Ice will extremely aggravate the problem.

Also, moisturing creams right before you go to bed. You wait 5 minutes, you go to bed, and the day after it's mostly healed 👍

Well again, thanks for tips guys. 👍

So anyhow, I already went to the doctor his morning to have a check up and get my medicines, and after taking the medicines, I'm feeling better already. My nose wassn't as drippy as before, and my throat feels better already (but somehow, my tasebuds can't taste anything properly now  Everything just taste odd...... :yuck:)

But anyways, hope to have a speedy recovery and enjoy the rest of my school holdays...... 👍

So I got really sunburned today, what is the best way to treat it? I took some ibuprofen and put some aloe on the burn areas of skin, but is there any other remedies anyone suggests?
Aloe, or similar moisturizing lotion and Tylenol.

If you want something to numb it a bit there is a spray called Solarcaine. It smells awful and I don't know if it is safe for your face, but it does have a slight numbing effect.

Anyways, just wanted to ask. What is the best way to cure a cold?
Plenty of rest. Treat the individual symptoms the best you can so you aren't miserable, but in general with a cold you just have to let it do its thing.

Any common virus is that way. When I had stomach virus I called my doctor just in case and she said, "Go home, go to bed. If you aren't better in 48 hours call me again."

Afrin is phenomenal.... but you have to stop after 3 days. :(

I have the best. A bottle of Nasacort (by prescription) mixed with one CC of Afrin (as directed by my allergist). Fights the cause and symptom. And I get to use it twice a day until someone makes an allergy medicine for those of us who are allergic to just about anything that floats in the air.

The sunburn is feeling pretty good, although the back of my neck still hurts. The aloe seems to be working the best. Thanks for the suggestions.

Where would you find that felt material you find in race cars or custom cars?

The stuff that's usually on the steering wheel or dash.

If so, Wikipedia states that Alcantara SpA is the distributer of alcantara material.

Alcantara is created via the combination of an advanced spinning process (producing very low denier bi-component "islands in the sea" fibre) and chemical and textile production processes (needle punching, buffing, impregnation, extraction, finishing, dyeing, etc.) which interact with each other.
Not much else about from the "all-knowing" Wikipedia.

Well, I originally linked to the Alcantara website, but their distributors page is blank, so that’s why I linked to that other page.

So wait, is this the same materials to make the alcantara leather seats used for those high end sports cars? I mean, is alcantara leather more comfortable and durable than normal leather?

Alcantara isn't leather. Alcantara is alcantara, leather is leather. You're confusing leather/alcantara seats with something they aren't - they are composed of a mixture of the two materials.

So yah... is there "fake" Alcantara then? I know that stuff is gonna be an arm and a leg. xD

Okay...... but why do I always hear these "alcantara leather" options on some cars? Is it a combination of both materials used for the interior? Also, is Alcantara the only company that is making this material?

Yes. Example:

Red = leather. Grey = Alcantara.

Yes.

Yeah, it's called suede. :p
In seriousness, there probably is, but I say suede as I've seen so many people confuse the materials.

But, you're right. It is an arm and a leg. The alcantara option on a Murcielago is around $2,000. $4,200 if you want it custom.

I hope this hasn't been asked before.

It's been bothering me for a really long time.

How do they make Rainbow Sherbert? How can they keep the colors separated and not let them mix together.

Partially frozen and very little mixing.

I have question (that I should probably know) related to seat materials. What exactly is the material used for my Si's seats?

I read the owner's manual, and it surprisingly, does not say.

Clicky. Not sure about the quality of the answer, though. They are saying Jersey and Alcantara.
