My computer (especially IE) is all of a sudden performing like it's lost 1.2 of its 1.3GHz - lagging like there's no tomorrow, basically. It's so bad I'm this | | close to heaving it out the window and bashing it with a shovel.

Any suggestions on what could be causing the "mystery" lag? (I disabled Norton 02's auto-protect and told the computer to not start it (it = auto-protect) on Windows startup a few days ago, but would that really be the problem?)

No way! I'm having the same problem as you right now!!!!
Only difference is, my firefox is lagging (forget about IE, its almost impossible to use it now) and I actually know what causes the problem. A few days ago I tried to install Adobe Flash on my PC, and somehow I was dumb enough to use the keygen (which has a trojan in it) and well, 🤬 happened! I scanned for the PC, deleted the virus and uninstall Flash. Now however, its gotten worse. My only problem is my C: drive is very fragmented, and I can't do a defrag cause my HD space is less than 15%. :banghead: Just need to finish download a thing or to on BitComet and I'll put it in my other HD, and hopelly get to defrag my PC and everything goes back to normal. 👍

I may need to scan my pc again some day just to see if there is the trojan is still there..... :nervous: Been really busy these last few days I can't even do anything on my pc...... :(

Only you know what's causing it. :p

My computer's just being a tard - IE (6, 7 sucks balls) is piss-slow even with only one window open, the start menu takes about 10 seconds to open then a further 10 for the programs menu to load, hell, even my internet is running a LOT slower than usual (sure, it's 56k, but it's behaving like it's 14.4 :|)

Can someone explain the difference between a vector cross product (axb) and a vector dot product (a.b)? They're making my head spin.

Um, what do you mean “explain the difference”? Because they’re totally, utterly, completely different – it’s kind of like asking what’s the difference between multiplication and subtraction. The answer is “sort of everything”.

If your real, hidden message is “tell me how to calculate dot and vector products”, I’m sure your textbook does a fine job of explaining how. Wiki has good articles too. Or pretty much any website you can find with a Google search.

You know what I mean - when is a cross/dot product used and what does it tell you. :dopey:

It doesn't. :grumpy:

Well they never helped me 12 years ago...I don't blame him for asking.

Me + Calculus = Fail.

It should be obvious to even the most dim-witted individual: a cross product is a vector, and a dot product is a scalar. Sheesh, what a bunch of ignoramuses.

Do you believe in witches now?

Admittedly, the body is pretty convincing, but I'll always be skeptical of myths that suddenly become realities. It's also suspicious that these guys only allowed one person to verify that the body was real, and he happened to be a Bigfoot hunter himself. Without outside experts and a hell of a lot of evidence, I just don't believe it. Sorry.

A yahoo report said the DNA came back a one being human and the other being 96% possum.

No. Obviously just another hoax. Aside from the wrong DNA (haha), you could just tell from that one article that it was a hoax.
  • They were actively looking for Bigfoot, and claimed to run across live ones, yet took no photos or video. If you were looking for Bigfoot, you would have three digital cameras with at least four batteries so that you’d be absolutely sure of getting visual evidence.
  • Not wanting to reveal the location to “protect” it – typical lie.
  • Very few, very crappy-ass pictures. When I see an interesting bird that I haven’t seen before, I take like twenty pictures, at least 3 megapixels each – if I saw Bigfoot, I’d take twenty million zillion pictures, and make sure that at least one comes out clear (it’s not that hard to hold a camera still).
  • Preliminary announcement on an internet radio show – shows a lot of confidence, eh? And several weeks ago, which is plenty of time to take more pictures and show every single person in the world and every expert in the world and every news journalist in the world!
  • Allowing only their favorite “expert” to see it – again, typical, blatantly transparent lie.

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside. Run. He's fuzzy.

H'alright...

What is a muffler belt? :boggled:
There's no such thing. Blinker fluid, either. And you don't need to replace the summer air in you tires with winter air when it gets cold. And...

Quick question for UK'ers... Save me having to find out myself. :p

"First" run the public bus service here, and sometimes I have to take two busses to a destination. I want to know if I can buy a single return ticket to go on two busses. Currently I buy a return ticket for each bus. I'm hoping if I can it would be cheaper.

Up here, First Glasgow buses have an all-day ticket. It only works on their buses though, which isn't a problem as it's the main bus company here.

I don't know about buses where you are.

Ah, yeah, forgot about the day ticket. The full Hampshire daily one is £5. In total my trip is around £4.30 (changing all the time...), so that doesn't make it worth it. Then there's a day Portsmouth ticket for £4, but that's within Portsmouth only, which doesn't help...

Anyway, thanks for the reply. 👍

I got OWED.:ouch: It's a long story...

I only used top eat it as a toddler because of height limitations preventing me reaching the cupboards, and the Cats were easy to push away. It never affected me. But, considering it's Cat and Dog exclusive, I wouldn't of thought it was a good idea to eat it.;)

Is this a decent hard drive and will it work with the PS3?

I'm contemplating picking it up this afternoon. Comments?

I like Western Digital, so it should be good. To get it to work with the PS3 (you do mean as external?) you need to make sure that it is in Fat 32 format.

If it comes in NTSC Windows XP should reformat it to Fat 32.

That's what I think about WD as well, FK and yes, as an external.

As for the Fat32/NTSC, does anyone have any experience with SwissKnife? I was thinking (doing a lot of that this morning...) about splitting the drive to use on both the PS3 and laptop.

Well.... "muffler belt" could be in reference to a muffler hanger... but it's more of a strip of flat metal sheet than an actual belt.

Apart from taste, is there any real reason you shouldn't eat dog/cat food?
I dunno. There may be some ingredients/chemicals that are fine for pets, but don't sit well with humans. Why don't you test it, and report back to us :p.

I also used to munch on Kibbles n Bits when I was a tiny child and I think I turned out alright.

George Carlin?

Some people eat pet food. Some pet food manufacturers have quality equal to human food manufacturers... and their product consultants taste test the foods personally.

That's the wet food... the dry stuff... errh...
