This is a thread to post all questions that you think that doesn't deserve a new thread.

I have a rather confusing question...

istockphoto_2767952_double_decker_cheeseburger_white_upclose.jpg

I hate to post this, but it has been puzzling me for years. Is a triple decker sandwich a sandwich with 3 slices of bread and for example burgers in between the 3 slices, or is it between 4 slices of bread with 3 burgers?

…I want it. I don’t know why, but I really really want it.

In my view, a normal sandwich (bread/filling/bread) is a single decker. Therefore (bread/filling/bread/filling/bread) is a double-decker. The number of decks corresponds to the number of discrete layers of filling (i.e. layers separated by bread).

However, in today's inflationary hyperbole-obsessed society, it wouldn't surprise me to see what I would see as a double-decker referred to as a triple.

I would have to say that's a strange double decker. However, I think a triple decker would be two pieces of bread, but three layers of filling between. Double deckers as far as I know have two pieces of bread as well, with two stacks of filling between.

Actually it would depend on if you asked the engineers or marketing/sales.

That will be a double (insert filling name here) sandwich, like a Double Cheeseburger at McDonalds. I am confused because google says double decker and tripple deckers are the same. :guilty:

It also depends on what you would classify as a triple decker. Consider the triple whopper, It doesn't have decker in it's name, leading me to believe that a triple decker has to be separated by pieces of bread, unlike the triple whopper.

I would say it would go by how many fillings there are, and not by the bread.

Right, Diablo. A double cheeseburger has one deck, but two beef patties. A triple cheeseburger has three patties on one deck. A typical Big Mac (bread, patty, bread, patty, bread) is a double decker sandwich. Once you get into mulitple decks I don't believe you can classify them as double or triple burgers. You count the decks instead.

Well said Keef, I understand now. 👍

Is "Sugar Alcohol" a dangerous ingredient if used to much, like say, when you eat too much Orbit® gum, you can get drunk off of it?

This is an excellent breakdown. I would only add that it is possible that someone would call bread/filling/filling/filling/bread a triple decker (though they'd be wrong).

Unless someone went crazy extreme and invented say, the double Big Mac:
(Bread, patty, patty, bread, patty, patty, bread). But I don't think the world could contain such a monster.

Ive got a question that I think doesnt deserve a thread:

Is it ok to mix rechargable batteries?
Ive got 3 AAA 600mAh batteries and 1 AAA 550mAh battery which is a different brand. Their both Ni-MH, so assume its ok to use them together and charge them together because my charger only charges in pairs...

As a general rule, no. The 550mAh cell will discharge before the other three. When that happens, the others will effectively be trying to charge the 550 cell in reverse. This will lead to destruction of the cell. This will happen sooner in a high current application.

As for charging, you can trickle charge them together with no problem, if there were more of a difference in capacities that wouldn't be true though. Note that anything faster than 16 hours is not a trickle charge. If you're using a one hour charger you're playing with fire (possibly literally).

Question: Do Americans that are speaking a different language talk with an accent. Sorta like how a native person of Asia speaks English with a weird accent?

Yes, definitely. Whenever you're learning another language, learning the proper accent is a part of the process, and unless you've mastered it, you'll be speaking with a weird "English" or "american" accent.

I can hear myself do it whenever I speak German, although I'd say I'm pretty close to the proper accent.

Question - How big should a skateboard be

Ive never been a skater, but i've recently taken some interest, especially considering that my dad now co-owns a building with a skate park in it :D

I want to get this skateboard (World Industries "Battle"). Is it the correct size?

How tall/big/old are you, thats what really matters when buying a board.

You're probably gonna want the board to be between 7.5"-8.0" wide, And about 30cm-35cm long.

Another question - I own a TI-83 Plus and whenever i use the sin, cos, etc.. buttons it comes out with a different answer than a scientific calculator does.

The problem this presents is that all my answers will be wrong since my teacher uses a crappy scientific calculator. I know damn well that my calculator is not the one that's wrong over a scientific one. This is not happening to just me either because another person in the class uses a TI-83 Plus as well and gets the same answer that I do.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: Nevermind, i just had to change it from radians to degrees

When I do an advanced search on GTP, it shows "Search in Child Forums." Anyone have any idea what is that?

Yep i was wondering about that the other day aswell.

And also about a search, yesterday i searched for DRIV3R and it came up with around 60 threads. After going through the second page, i found a few threads, THE COLOUR BLUE, Word Association game etc. FOr some reason i cannot read those threads. And it dosent say what forum its in either...

As an example, the GT4 photo and video galleries forum is a "child" to the GT4 forum. If you search the GT4 forum with the child box ticked, it will also search the photo galleries. If you search in the GT4 forum with the child box unticked, it will not search the photo galleries.

So it means kinda whether or not you wanna search the sub-sub forums...thanks for info :)

Ah, the Colour Blue. They were scrapped a while ago when the test forum was done away with.

Yeah, you might as well use that... GTP has no adult forums, they'd be against the AUP.
