I'd have one advice for Mercedes: They should make a diesel-powered motor to Formulas, since Mercedes makes the best diesel motors on earth. Something like the new 400cdi would do the trick :D:D:D. It would at least last the whole weekend.:sly:

Diesel F1 cars. No doubt about Merc's Diesels...McLaren should consider it. At least they will finish races. One engine per season...hahaha. :-)

Even Jordon/Midland didn't go few Merc/Ilmor custom engines...even THEY knew.

God I hope CBS doesn't carry any races next season. Derek Daly is painful to listen to. Not to mention his poor use of that damn pen on screen. He needs to go away. Townsen Bell....oh god, he is even worst than Daly. At least Daly had a career as a driver. Bell failed in F3000 and IRL and Toyota Atlantic (tht was him right). He isn't qualified to speak about anything. Ralph Sheahen (sp?)...ugggh. You can't even dislike this guy he is so cluseless.

Not that the Speed coverage of Hobbs/Matchet is the best but at least they know what they are talking about.

Yeah, I caught their fair share of mistakes. However, at least their voices are somewhat less painful/annoying to listen to. It did kind of sound like they were broadcasting out of a frathouse. They all have those college kid-type voices.

anyway, Bob Varsha and hobbs and matchet really are the best between the two groups. Hobbs does have different voice, but you can't help but love it. At least I do. That, and they make next to no mistakes and actually point things out. I was so angry that it took the CBS guys 10 laps to figure out that takuma sato got damaged.
 
oh yeah....and I'd LOVE to see a 22x rpm diesel. hahahaha.
 
This is getting seriously off-topic but I read somewhere that Peugeot is developing a diesel-engine for their LMP-racer. Wonder how it'll turn out.

McLaren should really change the engine supplier but that's not gonna happen for years, if ever.

Well I missed all of the race, except for about the last 15 or so laps. Though I did hear in that time that Kimi had some kind of mechanical failure. Basically, I have all but given up on any chance at Kimi winning the Drivers Title. Though I do still think there is a chance for McLaren to win the Constructors, but not an overly big one.
 
Lol, I saw an great interview on Kimi after the race! It went like this:

Interviewer: "I bet it's horrible, isn't it?"
Kimi: "Yep." And drove off in his CLK DTM AMG

I'm sure Kimi is the best thing that can happen to an interviewer. He's alwos so happy to answer the questions, and he speaks so clearly!

Note the sarcasm..
 
What a letdown, I was looking forward to a Kimi / Alonso shot-out.

Fantastic race for Renault and Alonso. Is it obvious, now, why I love this guy for the past two years? He's a fantastic race car driver! Smart, mature, knowledgeable, lucky, kind and very humble. He's a fantastic race car driver/human being, and nobody deserves to win this years championship more. So, congrats Alonso and Renault!

Fisi disappointed me at the start. He went from fourth to eigth in four seconds. In a Renault. this is unforgivable. But, the battle with Schumacher made up for it, a little. But, he should've had a podium finish. But, I'll take his fouth place finish and be happy enough with it.

Oh, and thank you CBS for sparing us from Derek Daly for the last F1 race. That was a nice gift. I'm glad my several hundred e-mails finally got to you.

And for the rest of the race... WHO CARES! ALONSO WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP, BABY! WOO-HOO!

I believe the reason Fisichella lost alot of gorund in the opening lap and then lacked the pace of alonso the rest of the race was due to getting quite a considerable shunt from Sato that may or may not have damaged his rear end plate, wing or diffusers
 
So how about that 2006 season?

Alonso, by speed alone this championship should be Kimi's, but as Alonso said in the post race interview 'the race is 70 laps not 30' and that is why he will win this years championship, the car finishes. He's had one retirement this year and that was because he threw it into a wall.

Very strong and mature drive from Montoya, a well deserved 2nd place. Button also put in a good drive for 3rd.

JV was in the wars all day, making contact with at least 3 cars.

Bad luck to Kimi, why does it always plague him.

Aren't you getting a little ahead of yourself? Isn't there 7 races left with a total of 70 points up for grabs? OK so it's a tall order but it has been known that when someone is far ahead they ease off and make mistakes, a couple of DNF's and the championship will be back on.

Surely Kimi's luck has got to change and maybe the Hungaring is the race where it will happen. After all, Kimi goes out first and the place is known for being a dust bowl, no way is he going to get pole unless they put enough juice in the car for 3 laps or so.

I'd say Toyota. I can't remember a single race where they had engine issues. Didn't Ralf have an engine let go early in the season? I can't remember but that was the only one I can think of.

Ferrari had some gear box issues early in the season and both Rubens and MS have blown an engine, right?

Renault has been very steady too. So it has to be Toyota or Renault.

This time.

Turns out is was some McLaren mechanic not tightening the hydrilic release valve enough, so F1racing.net says. Someone won't be getting their Christmas bonus this year. Nor a card from Kimi.

Alonso is not about to 'ease' anything, now! It's game on! He's a very smart driver. There might not be reason to overextend himself or take risks, but that's the smart move. Again, he'll score top three if he finishes a race. He's retired twice this year, and one was from that US GP fiasco. Renault is not going to have reliability issues for the remainder of the season like they usually do.

Alonso will win the 2005 Formula One Championship. However, since JPM is doing so well, and Fisi is asleep, Renault could lose the Championship. I still don't know how that's going to conclude.

If Kimi wins the next 7 races he gets 70 points.

If Alonso comes 5th for the next 7 races he gets 28 points.

70 - 28 = 42

So Kimi would score 42 more points than Alonso, and Alonso is only 36 ahead, so Kimi would win by 6 points.

Yep, I realized too late I did fith place, not five points. Duh.
 
still, I just cant see this one slipping from Alonso now, hes been so consistantly on the podium, race after race, only one DNF despite the 1 engine every 2 races and 1 set of tyres per race weekend rule. quite possibly it might get a bit tighter and Mclaren might reign in the constructors, but for 2 years running now theyve had the fastest car for majority of the season that has had the capability to go out and get race wins, and for the second year running its been wasted by DNF's.

Sure, a couple DNF's by Alonso could see it happen, but you dont make DNF's when you are in Alonso's position and everybody else has the job ahead of them, becuase you know youve jsut gotta keep gonig about your business, race by race. When you are in Kimi's position, thats when you stuff, becuase the odds are stacked against you, and the pressures on.
 
Umm, McLaren has a car last year that was not all that fast. The MP4-19 wasn't a fast car, not to mention its reliability problems. The MP4-19B was alot faster and more reliable, but it wasn't that fast, I mean Coulthard did nothing in it, I put the race win down to the skill of Raikkonen.

Coulthard didn't ever do anything with any McLaren whatever the year model.
I'm still trying to find why he was hired by Ron Dennis, maybe because he is British ? Of course he is a good driver ( and a nice person ), nobody has a F1 seat just by luck ... excepted like Diniz when you have $.
For me he was the Barichello of the Mc. Laren team.
I'm glad he looks happier and more relaxed with RedBull.
