OK so in Extreme, level 24 I think, theres a race series for these cars. So I bought a BMW from the UCD, classed as a touring car, cost quite a bit and is complete with sponsors labels, like a touring car. Enter it in the race to discover its not allowed! So I pull up the car list and among the beemers and audis theres an Alfa listed! Err thats Italian guys!
And so what defines a touring car in GT5,, cos I remember watching them on the TV on sundays a few years ago. All BMWs, vauxhalls and such. Do i need a RMed M5?

Just click on the entry requirements, it will list all the eligible models

The Alfa did take part in the DTM championship in the early 90s

Even the Lexus concept-car is allowed in this championship! I used it and it was an easy win

I'm guessing you bought the 320i Touring car. That is a Super 2000 class touring car in real life. You should have bought the M3 GT-R which although is a GT class car is allowed in the German Touring Car championship. That or one of the Audis or Mercedes touring cars would see you through well.

Vauxhalls aint german either but maybe youve seen opals.

Lol.
Check the entry requirement first. :p
Not just Alfa, Lexus are also in there.

Also, there's no RM M5 and 320i Touring Car can't even beat the likes of Abt TT or CLK DTM. It's just like you want to beat Formula 1 with your M3 GTR. Fact.
Just saying. :D

I dont know much about cars, so I wouldnt know how suitable a 320i would be in which race- I just thought it looked like a touring car.

It is a touring car, but it's a WTCC car, not a DTM car.
However this is not the requirement...M3 GTR Race Car's not a DTM car also. It participated in American Le Mans Series/Nurburgring 24hrs as a GT3 car.

For the DTM championship, you need to use a car from the list of eligible cars that the game provides you with. Just because a car isn't German, doesn't mean it can't enter into the DTM. Why are Honda in the BTCC? Why have Audi and BMW won the BTCC? They're not British. How dare they enter our championship!

One touring car does not neccessarily equal another touring car. They are all built to different regulations and have completely different specifications. A DTM car is completely different from a BTCC or a WTCC car or a SuperGT car, yet they are all classed as touring cars.

If you don't know much about cars, look through the eligible vehicles list, so you don't buy the wrong car. That's why the list is there.

The Alfa is probably the best car that you can use in the championship, though like all of the "old" DTM cars it is twice as expensive.
