If you want to buy a Desktop that can play iRacing your best bet is too buy the PC tower and the Monitor separately.

Also I think you should change the name of the thread to "Getting a new Desktop" and edit the 1st post as well.

Just bought the TV should be here midweek. And then I should have the funds for the PC by the mid July. 👍

Well seeing how much higher the prices are in the UK, I think you should budget 600 pounds to get a nice prebuilt gaming PC.

If the prices are higher in the UK (it sucks doesn't it) then I think he should build it and save some cash. I haven't really read the thread though so you may have already discussed it.

Okay, building. Main problem with that is I have very little experience with it. Only ever operated on my PS3 and iPhone. And only because both warranties had ran out.

And because I would probably forget something important/ mess it up. It seems to be like a laptop would be cheaper.. But I'll have a quick look around. If it can run iRacing to full potential I'll take it. Doesn't need to be anything special, just able to run iRacing.

I found a prebuilt gaming computer for £600 with some nice specs. [link] I just noticed there was no OS installed for £600.

But after looking around for a while I also found this £612 gaming computer. [link]

Just leaving some options here though there might be better gaming computer deals in July, who knows.

Link #2 and Link #3 are the best out of them. It's about an $940(converted from the "including vat price") system here in the states and that kind of price matches it to the US market. I say it's a winner.

Just a little tip to anybody suggesting 600 pounds is 750 euro which is most likely out of the OP's budget and does he really need to have all the power that you are suggesting to play iRacing? I mean here is the system requirements.

iRacing System Requirements
Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7
Intel Core 2 Duo or Athlon X2
or higher
NVidia GeForce 7800 / ATI Radeon X1800 or above graphics adapter recommended
2 GB system RAM
6 Gb free hard disk space

My very top budget is €500 because if I go any higher I won't be able to buy anything else before I'm out of work. Looking through all provided links now and will add some myself.

All links are way out of budget. But how about this? Zoostorm gaming PC

  • Intel Core i3-2120 3.3GHz
  • 500GB HDD + 8GB RAM
  • DVD Writer
  • NVIDIA GeForce GT430
  • Windows 7 Home Premium 64

I dunno, after a look around and a few posts in the iRacing thread it seems as though it wii need at least 3 cores in the not to distant future. I found a lot of very cheap new computers on ebay with 4, 6, and even 8 cores that's in my price range. Will post some links later.

This one goes over £400 when upgrading the HDD to 500Gb (£391 with 250Gb), so I guess you just have to deal with that 250Gb and buy a bigger HDD later on when you get enough money. Otherwise this seems to be very, very good.

That's a good deal. Though I'd change it to the Fractal Design Core 1000(Good case to use and it's a good company), Ximatek 500W PSU(I don't trust a generic 650W PSU. It's just asking for a fire or fried parts) and of course the 500GB HDD. That would come to 464 pounds. A bit more than the original suggestion but I'd feel safer using a power supply that I know of. You won't need a Quad core(trust the requirements from the official website) and the GPU is great for your uses. I've looked at shipping and it costs 20 pounds to ship it. The total was 487.99 pounds with shipping and VAT included.

Problem there is that 487 pounds is €600..

I'll put up a few in a bit with no OS because I have a uncle who can install it for me.

Whoops I did not know that. Sorry about that. Well now that I know the limits(did not know the conversion problem) here's one. Athlon's are good dual cores. Just change the GPU to a HD 6770 and change the HDD to the 500GB HDD. It comes to £393.00 with shipping and VAT included. It does not come with an OS so it's perfect for your budget. So it's at 487.14 euros and in your budget.

With this computer case I would also recommend getting a 92mm case fan for the rear vent since the case only comes with a front fan.

I think you may have included the fan in the overall price there. Which again is a good thing because that means that 487.14 euro is as high as it will get pre shipping. But I'll quickly browse ebay and see if anything I found is any good.

All prices are in euro.
410 euro Nvidia GT630 GPU, 2TB HDD, 8GB RAM and Quad Core.
450 euro 500GB HDD, 4GB RAM, ATI HD 7770, and Quad Core. Seems the best to me, but since I know very little there's most likely a catch there.

No the fan was not included in the computer price. That was with the vat and shipping. So it's the price after shipping and VAT was applied. The case comes with one 120mm fan in the front and it's highly advise able to get the 92mm fan for exhaust in the rear. Why not? It's cheap and it's a good fan that's pretty well balanced for performance and noise.

Oh I never seen the price of the fan tbh. But it is cheap, and extra cooling is never a bad thing. What do you think of the ones in my post?

Also is ATI HD 7770 better then 6770? And where would a Nvidia compare to ATI HD for example? Would really like to know the answer to that and I think you would know.

The HD 7770 is better than the HD 6770. But that case has a CIT PSU and it's a Hec PSU unit(not bad but not recommended at all). The GT 630 is just a lower end card than the HD 6770. The Nvidia equal to the HD 6770 is an GTX 550Ti.

I honestly think you won't be able to get anything better for the combo I got.

And I honestly have no idea of what I need

What are PSU's? I noticed you mentioned cases as well as they do 7 different cases with the same inside gear and price.

I'll heavily consider what you mentioned there and I'll have my uncle check it out also and see what he thinks about it. Actually, if I get the parts he may be able to do the assembly. Something else to consider in that.

They are Power Supply Unit's. They provide power, prevent damage to your hardware, and good ones are designed to be 80PlUS efficient(means 80% or more of power is not wasted in heat). The Ximatek is a decent brand under the likes of Antec, Corsair, Seasonic, and FSP to name a few. Save yourself the worry and have your Uncle check it over and confirm it to you.
