It's a problem I have, and I see lot's of people joining my rooms with the same symptoms.
The problem occurs when you join a server with a race in progress. Everything is fine until the race has finished and the 30sec (or whatever its set to) race ending countdown has elapsed. You will then freeze up and have no option but to quit game via the PS button. By the time the game has reloaded the server you originaly wanted to join will probably have started the next race and so the same will happen again.

So if you're having difficulty with freezing after joining a lobby here's what to do:

1 Join the room you want to race in.
2 Go to watch race and wait till the lead car is about to enter the final straight to take the flag
3 Leave the room.
4 If it's a buddy's room join again via the community tab, otherwise go to the server list page, set the filter to the track it was on and press triangle to refresh the list until you find it. You should now be able to join and take part as normal.

Note, if you do get in a room (or as a host) do not sit out or spectate any races as you will get frozen again. Just start the race and pull over and engage handbrake.

Also I've noticed when going to the open lobby DO NOT go back to GT Home until the list of servers has appeared. You will freeze.

From the hosts point of view if you see someone stuck with the binocular symbol it means they are having the problem and might appreciate a kick. Bear in mind they wont be able to rejoin once kicked (I think) until you create a new room

Hope this helps, not a perfect solution but works well enough

edit: was suppopsed to go in online forum, mod feel free to move

I have never had problems like this before.

Just sometimes people tend to have lag that's all, no freezing up or random disconnections.

I've had that problem too. The only time my online has frozen has been when I have not been on track when the race finishes. It has hapened in three different ways:
- I was a spectator
- I joined the room and just sat in the lounge waiting for the race to finish
- I was racing on Daytona, and exited to give up position and type an apology to a guy I bumped into the wall
