GFGT question

Hi all,
Mistake in the title, its a DFGT. I have just recently purchased the DFGT wheel and started using it yesterday. My question is, is it supposed to make a grinding noise when turning whilst driving? I don't mean the noise the motors make. The best way to explain it is, the cogs inside (I guess there are cogs) are slipping badly, I do know there is a force in it but the sound does not sound healthy at all, very much like a snapping sound. I honestly can't see the wheel lasting long if this is the way it is, maybe im wrong. This is the first time I have ever used a wheel on a console so help would be appreciated.

No, nothing like that at all. At the most when you really whip it, it should make a whirring sound, but no clicking at all. I would exchange/replace it.

FWIW (I would make a post about this, but the ridiculous 100 post policy prevents me from doing so); my DFGT just crapped out - It started out by losing calibration during game play (i.e. you would start having to keep the wheel turned left to go straight), which got worse and worse (despite me trying to clean the sensor), and now it won't calibrate; just blinks the center DFGT logo at me.

I was going to wait for the new Thrustmaster wheel, but @ rumored $500 prices, no freaking way - I can get a track day beater for $1000 (Saturn SL2, 1992). It's out of warranty but I'm hopeful Logitech will look the other way for me.

Sorry for the threadjack - but no, you wheel is NOT supposed to do that. Sounds like a tooth is broken on one of the multiple gear assemblies, and it's slipping.
 
I agree. It will make a smooth whirring noise when you turn it, but if you hear snapping, take it back and exchange it.
 
Thankyou for your answers. Im going to take it back to the shop as soon as possible, such a pain but the wheel is getting unbearable now. I can't afford a better one so hope the next one I get is ok. I forgot to say im using it on GT5 if that makes a difference, I dealt it, lol. :)
