I love the ghosts. They save time. When your ghost is ahead by a pretty big margin you can just exit the race and retry. It's not like when you finish a whole lap you realise you're too slow.
That's true, but if you're really close to it, it's a different matter. Say you're coming up to a corner, and can just barely see the silhouette of the ghost, it really throws you off sometimes.
I'd rather have a Formula One-style time split in the bottom area of the screen. When you're going faster than your previous lap, the time is in a green box, if slower, a red box, or something to that effect.
