Gifting a car - what happens to the paint chip?

This might seem like a silly noobish question from me... sorry about that, I have searched for the answer and couldn't find it.

What happens when you gift or sell a car - do you lose the paint chip you got with the car?

The reason being, I want to buy some duplicates to get a specific colour and will then gift the car on to one of my friends - obviously I would not want to lose the paint chip.

You don't ever lose a chip from gifting.
However, when you gift a car the receiver will receive the original chip, for example:
If you paint a car yourself say Matte Black and gift it, the receiver will not receive a Matte Black chip, they would receive a Matte Black car with the paint chip of the original color from when the car was first purchased.

I know this is slightly off topic and has probably been covered hundreds of times but when you gift a car with loads of upgrades - does your friend get the upgrades too or does it return to stock?!

However you setup the car is how he gets it. That includes tuning parts and tuning settings.

Gift the original car and keep the "duplicate" in the colour you prefer??
