Does anyone thing that people who are discovering the 'break-outs' in the game are actually impeding PD development because PD are fixing these problems with patches and dev time which could be spent on things we actually want like in-race saves.

This is not a bash at those who use the glitches, it's your game, play it how you like. We all know the game came with these faults and it's up to the individual if they wish to use them for benefit.

I'd just like to know if you, like me, believe that without these discoveries (break-outs, duping etc..), progress/updates could have been made further than they have up to this point?

What's your view?

Yes I agree. I think these glitches weren't being abused we would have had endurance race saves.

Disagree. PD choose to fix it. I cant see why they care so much. People want the good cars and lots of money without becoming a vampire. I dont see the problem

Maybe PD feel it's necessary to fix it because it takes away from the whole GT experience. Fixing time which could be spent else where.
I'm happy to play without glitching, maybe they're doing it so folks like me don't feel cheated because I have 120 cars and my brother/friend/coworker has 1000 yet we've spent the same amount of time playing. (I don't feel cheated by the way, I'm just being hypothetical)

I don't think you understand the reason for this game, it was made to last until gt6, so do a few races a day, earn 200-500k a day. And by weeks end, buy yourself a nice car. Why rush everything?? Wouldn't you like the satisfaction of talking your time earning the car, then you would have more appreciatiton for it.

No, I don't think that. Dispite what anyone may think they are intitled to, we all bought a complete game. I don't recal signing any contract guaranteeing what PD would or would not provide in the future. The bugs as PD see's them should be fixed before any game upgrades. That is a good thing imo.

What actually bothers me is the locked game saves, surely there is a way to allow game save sharing and still uphold the integrity of paid for dlc? Same way you can't use chromline codes on region lock?

Anyway, that would have prevented all of the fuss without doubt. Here on gtp for example there have been threads and even stickied threads with all available game save dl's people are willing to share. (end 1/2 off topic)

Maybe the incessant complaining about the glitching is what is causing PD to prioritize fixing it over other issues?!

I don't get the feeling PD frequents gtp or any other fan site tbh, not sure. One thing though, surely Kaz would feel embarrassed if someone showed him one of the million glitch vids on YT? I know I would.

Personally, I'd have to say "no".
I don't think that the existence of the found glitches (and those yet found), their use, and PD's efforts to patch them are impacting any GT5 development/enhancements.

With such small update files, I suspect that their patching efforts haven't required vast amount of man-hours to produce.

What's still being done to develop/enhance GT5 is a bit too shrouded in speculation/secrecy/myth for my taste, and without knowing what they have in the works there's no way of knowing what kind of effort and time have been spent - and still needs to be spent - in order for things to make their way to distribution.

Hopefully some of the things that are still to come for GT5 have been in the works since before the initial release. We'll all just have to wait and see, sadly.

Peace...

Theres money to be made in this and it serves them to pay attention. Someone I know was a full time employee doing exactly that for a gaming company.

This.

It's not as though they have to set aside fifty programmers to reprogram the entire game just to fix something PD screwed up in the first place. The reality is probably more toward the other end of the spectrum, with like one guy sinking an hour into it. That's one less hour that he could have spent playing Angry Birds.

Well even though most of the glitches were known of for a very long time, they didn't get patched until people started talking about them on forums like this one. I'd say they probably have people who view the forums because most of their decisions seem to go with the popular opinions on the forums, no matter how weird some of the ideas are.(1,000,000Cr trade cap being the best example).

If the game was made to last until GT6, maybe taking away any chance to have fun with whatever car I want was a bad idea. I instead have to grind for a day just to get the Ferrari F1, or any other high priced car. So now, because I don't feel like doing tiny circles for 30 minutes at a time just to make money to do the things I enjoy, that make me want to play more, I am bored with this game.
I play once in a while when they add new seasonals or the occasional DLC car (Camaro SS "Edge Edition"), but other than that I don't play because I have no money for new cars.

They don't bother to monitor the online lobbies?

EDIT: Also by that logic, if people had not complained about glitchers pd would have givin a better update with stuff you wanted? Oh no, say it is not so.

It's PD's fault for fixing a problem that doesn't exist. And ignoring problems that do exist, like lack of money and the use of levels and XP.

How on Earth does glitching make the game last a shorter time? Why should I wait a week to get a car? Why would getting myself bored and angry going in circles to "earn" fake money to "buy" a string of 1's and 0's make me appreciate anything? Especially when I could spend that time racing 1000 cars exactly how I want, when I want, how I want.

I'd put more stock in that.

To me this is like asking if people who find problems with a car are impeding the company that makes the car from making new models because they have to worry about fixing the problems...

It's a realization there is some blame to go around but having a strong bias against where to place it.

PD should have addressed these issues before the game released. They shortcutted and released the game this way and now people are finding their shortcut work and the result is time that should have been spent during producting is being spent now.

So no, I don't blame the people finding these glitches, that's called finding a scapegoat.

As with so much elese to do with GT5, some of the fans are blinded by their devotion and know they have anger and frustration however are not being rational and logical in where they focus that anger and frustration.

Problems and flaws with GT5 should be addressed towards the makers of GT5, not the customers.

Look cheats have existed in the gaming industry. This isn't new information. They are almost expected at this day and age. All of this anti glitch protesters that trade on this site have probably benefitted to a degree by getting the car(s) they were after. Just because we are online now means squat. You and your non glitching buddies by not glitching aren't being punished by some update not here because of it. Just didn't benefit from am opportunity to get some cars.

Btw I like the game exactly how it is!

So the only way you're gonna have fun, is if you buy a 330 p4, or miura eh?? Besides, you don't have to grind, that's were b-spec comes in, and remote racing. If you need money, add me, and i'll remote race your b-spec drivers, and by weeks, end you will have 2 mill to spend.

Well, you spend more time gaining money, to buy every car, as i am doing, not every car, as in every miata, but every le mans racer and f1 cars, and because you take your time, and enjoy racing by making the game difficult for yourself(driving underpowered cars), and therfore you get satisfaction winning the cars. And like i said to the other mintberrycrunch, there is b-spec and remote racing, or make a second account, and start again, try winning the game without spending money on cars.

As do i.

you should have added a poll
[ ] YES
[X] NO

No i dont think it's taking away from other issues being released/fixed/implemented. The save during endurance races feature is probably a very hard option to implement because, from what i can tell it goes in the opposite direction of how GT5 is coded, if that makes any sense?!?
The way GT5 saves games has to be, in my opinion, completely changed; and this new way of saving cannot under any circumstance destroy or damage the gamesave that already exists, could you imagine if they add that feature then you have to START ALL OVER AGAIN because it corrupts the gamesave!??! when you exit a race now a gameday passes, new cars in the UCD; but with inrace saving this has to be prevented; then when you return to the main gt-life screen the game autosaves, but with inrace saving it cant because then it would seem like you have exited the race and lost all the progress in the race up to that point, for example after completing 16 of 24hrs at the Nur. i would shoot myself in the head if that happened. the new gamesave would now have to save all the information for all 12 cars in the race, position, drivers, fuel levels, tyre wear, engine wear, the 'dirtyness' of the car, somewhat like what a replay saves; but the current gamesaves dont save any of the info...most of the things that everybody wants in GT5 go in the opposite direction that GT5 was "thought" out by Kaz and company. which im sure MANY many GT5 player have noticed since day one;

besides they have a team of 3d modelers, that just make the car models all day, interiors, tracks etc. and they are still doing this. They arent, all of a sudden, going to begin writing code and programing; they are probably modeling new premium cars for GT6 or for DLC or for whatever may be released March-2012

Hyperbole aside, why is it somehow ok to get tons of money doing nothing with remote races is fine but glitching the money isn't?

Sure one is a method built into the game but as far as your example of getting hte murai or 330 p4 the only differnece is your suggested way is much slower and less reliable.

If you knew much about game design you'd know that updating geometry in maps is a quick procedure, and doesn't involve that many people, 3 at most to fix the map file, maybe 5 more to get the update through to the customers.

Its not like the entire game team halts everything for days because they need to update 12 polygons on one file.

I would guess that the total productivity loss from having to do a such a minor update would be 1-3 days, meaning your beloved updates would be delayed that long, hardly something to get frustrated about.

The supposition made by the OP is just using the recent cheating as a scapegoat for PD's lack of updates. It also ignores that the reason this money-cheating even exists is because the in-game economy is flawed to begin with.

a scapegoat for PD's lack of updates..

BTW I agree with you Zabiela. your whole comment.

Two updates after what japan has been through since march 11?!!? i figured june before we got a single peep out of PD. 2 updates is 3 too many in these times. im suprised they havent shut down all the hello-kitty factories and sent all the employees over to the nuclear reactors to try and cool things off...

but seriously, look at all the invisible barriers around tgtt, just add a few dozen more around the Ring; shouldnt take more than a handful of hours for one modeler.

Aren't the rolling blackouts still occurring? I would think that hampers work productivity.

It seems the majority here are saying 'no'.

A valid point PAWEL17 when you say remote racing is very similar to glitching. They do kind of have the same effects.

What do you guys think about this statement?

i make atleast 1 million a day from remote races. mobile phones plus the remote login make a great team...

I need to start remote racing in that case. Does it work for iPhone?

Indeed. I'd like to know the reasoning for this as well.

By using a widget to earn millions hosting a ton of remote races while you work/eat/sleep, you're not exactly using this feature as intended, yet people simply don't care (including me, of course). But using a rubberband for the same purpose is wrong, let alone glitching.. that's just funny.

Back on topic, I don't think this is slowing them down at all. It's not like the whole team needs to work overtime for an easy fix.

Pretty pointless poll... Have PD released a patch that only fixes a glitch? Do you think it took them any development time to create that patch? If you answer yes to both those questions then you should answer yes to the poll (i.e. everyone should answer yes).
Except: fixing glitches *is* a useful update.

OP, there is an option missing from your poll - a "who cares" option.
