Google asked them. They asked the press and the media (like The Screen Savers) if they would like to try. Maybe they just invited random people too.
 
I myself have 6 Gmail accounts to give away. Anyone who wants one can send me a PM with your (real) first and last name, and an email address for me to send the invite to.
 
So you actually have to use your name for the address?

No, that's just a suggestion made by Google.
 
Google randomly gives people the ability to invite others after you've been with Gmail for a while.
 
Are you sure it's random? I mean everyone who seems to have it get's invites. Even me.
 
I mean the time in which it selects you to give out invites is random.
 
I'd like an invitation, I hate using Hotmail. Someone IM me on AIM and talk to me about the Gmail thing please.
 
Can anyone point out to where on Gmail you are able to invite people. I've got an account and I'd be willing to give some invites, but I can't seem to find where you can do that.

Google more then likely hasn't given you the ability to invite people yet.
 
I have one but I have no invites yet you there!
 
If anyone wants gmail, just give me a PM with your real name, address, phone number, credit card number, social sec.....just name and email will do :D
 
I have one. I jhave 6 invitations, but when I try to clock the link, nothing happens...

The people buying them are stupid. We probably have 50 invites right here alone, and they could all be snatched up for free.

I got 4 invites left.
 
I gots me a GMail account thanks to bustwave. I haven't really used it other to than boast to other people how awesome I am for having two separate accounts from two websites, each giving me 1000 MB of space. Spymac is the other service I have.

How often do you get invites?
 
I got a lot more invites. I always save at least one invites, so ill invite myself again and get more invites. Never ending process. :)
