I wasn't sure where to post this, so I'll just post it here. Anyway, towards the end of the opening sequence there is an orangeish red car that looks almost like a go kart, just sitting off the ground a little more then a normal go kart. What kind of car is this, and, more importantly, how do I obtain it?
Thanks in Advance

I think you are talking about the Caterham Seven Fire Blade. You get that one at the Caterham shop un the UK. It sells for 60,000 cr.

If you are talking about the Toyota Motor Triathlon Race Car, you get that as a prize for winning the Beginners 4WD Challenge.

Or, do you mean the Nike One? You can win that one of two ways. Win the Manufacturers Saleen S& Club, or getting Bronze in the IB License testing.

If I'm wrong, I'm sorry. I have my options set to not play the opening sequence.

none of those cars are able to enter races though. they're only for joyriding.

The car you are talking about is the Caterham Seven Fire Blade. You buy it in the Caterham dealership for 60,000 credits.

they cant race the Caterham because the game cant handle all the ditale of the interior that they would have to show (so im told)

If you buy it you unlock it in arcade mode and you can race against one other car with it there.

are they fast? and how big are they? like relate to a sedan.

very small ..... i'd say about the lenght of say a suzuki cappucino also very low to the ground.... actually looks really funny in the midst of traffice. from what i've read they are extremly fast.

I think most of the one in sydney are kit cars, so the engines depend on the owners choice but as far as i'm aware most of them sport a healthy V8.

Wrong there, most run the Toyota 4AGE motor, some have fitted the s2000 motor and only a few run any kind of V8 (Westfield SEight)

Most Sydney cars are PRB Clumans or Amaroo Clubmans, but are essentially the same as the Caterham 7

It's a common theme and they are road legal in many countries. They're all just copies of the Lotus Seven from many years back. This guy builds similar cars here in New Zealand. Not called a Caterham of course, but it's practically the same car. :)

It's all about power-to-weight...

I don't about they're leagality in the US, but i'd guarentee it's not legal in california. And even it it was you'd have cops trying to give you tickets all the time.

There is actually a legal hight you head and tail lights need to be in california, this prevents go kart like cars like this from being on the road. It also keeps SUV headlights out of your eyes, wich is inevitible in my little ZX.

And it would probly never pass DOT side impact standards. What's the body made out of? I'll go check... ....Well, they don't say, but it looks like steel if not at least aluminium. I trly can't see that passing safety standards in the US. I'm sure it's a blast to drive though. You might be lucky enough for it to pass for a SB100 in california though.

One question regarding the Caterham. In the game the displacement of the engine is like 1 liter. However, I thought I read somewhere that it was using a 2.0L Ford/Mazda engine. Is the game wrong, or there another smaller engine available. Or am I wrong.

They do and have used many different motors over to years, even within the same make model. Although I have no knowedge about what exact engine codes they've used in make/models. Maybe some UK car nut will know more.

The Caterham in the game uses the 1litre Honda Fireblade Bike engine. New ones come with Rover K-series engines or 2.3litre Cosworths in the CSR's.

Don't begin showing off that picture jmx2222, now I know YOU KNOW it's a cool picture...................if you know what I mean:sly::p

All the current offical Caterhams have Rover K Series Engines similar to those in the original Elise. The Caterham in the game was owned by EVO magazine over here and was officially the lightest Caterham ever made. It had carbon fibre everything including a CF steering wheel. All R500s had a 1.0l Motorbike engine.

The current most extreme Caterham has 250bhp and will do 0-60 almost as quick as most superbikes. There are also various race series run here in the UK.

Every single car that looks similar to the Caterham is a Lotus Seven replica. The original Seven was made around the 50s I think:

A couple of pieces of wrong/outdated info there.

There are current, official Caterhams with Cosworth engines in them (see http://www.caterham.co.uk/showroom/sevens/csr.htm ).

I don't believe any of the original R500s had a 1 litre motorbike engine, iirc all the official ones have the K Series engines.

I bought it as my 3rd car
I knew I couldn't race it. It drives like a go kart.

On steroids...

It likes to drift at 210mph on Nurburging too. :odd: 👍
